THE FOOLPROOF BAILOUT

Unless the HOLES in the financial system are properly plugged up, this 700 billion dollar bailout will just GO TO WASTE. The reason why we are in this FINANCIAL MESS is because all those holes came into play at full throttle. Some people simply abused the weakness of the dollar for their benefit. Upon seeing the weakness of the dollar, they played up the price of oil. They can do it because as we have seen last Monday, there is no regulation that can stop them from doing so. With very high oil prices, the companies become vulnerable and weak. Here comes the SHORT SELLERS taking advantage of that weakness and betted that the stock prices of these companies would fail. As a result of stocks plunging, many companies struggled and many could have borrowed money from banks and in the process raised the interest rates. Also, profits from short selling contribute to excess liquidity and to offset this liquidity, interest rates are raised. As interest rates climbed, so does the mortgage interest rates. Many homeowners defaulted which put banks on a tough situation. Again the SHORT SELLERS saw the opportunity to profit so they came BETTING AGAINST the banks until we see all these big banks failed.

Now, we can see that there are THREE BIG SUCKING HOLES that came into play that put us into this mess. The FIRST are the SPECULATORS who played up THE PRICE OF OIL. The SECOND are SHORT SELLERS which pulled down the stock market. The resulting HOLE (third hole) which these two sucking holes created are the FORECLOSED houses which continue to burden the financial system.

The SOLUTION to this mess is simply to PLUG UP these THREE HOLES. First is to create an OIL PRICE STABILIZATION LAW which I explained in my earlier posts. Second is to PERMANENTLY BAN SHORT SELLERS. Thirdly, if they want a bailout, it should be used to relieve the homeowners by lowering their mortgage interest payments and return the foreclosed houses to its previous owners under a restructured payment scheme that's affordable. The third solution will release the banks from bad debt and can therefore continue and start clean anew.

The hedgefunds which will be affected by the ban on short selling can look for MORE PRODUCTIVE investments like the manufacturing sectors and new technologies sectors. This shift of investment would lower interest rates because manufacturers would not be crowding in the banks for loans. This will also make our manufacturing sectors competitive. As a result more jobs will be created.

This is WIN-ALL SCENARIO and to achieve this, THESE THREE HOLES MUST BE ATTENDED TO, otherwise, NO BAILOUT WILL SUCCEED.

God Lives In The Himalayas

Ten-year old Siddharth is traumatized when he witnesses a religious ceremony gone terribly wrong. During this sacred ritual, his mother is consumed by flames and his father is horribly burnt. Once a normal, outgoing boy, Siddharth is transformed by the tragedy into an introverted child of a few words.

While awaiting and praying for his father’s recovery, Siddharth is forced to live with his uncle. Continuing the inexplicable downward spiral of his life, young Siddharth is subjected to abuse from his aunt. The only bright spot in his life is the warmth he receives from his cousin, Druki. Despite the sad circumstances that have caused it, she is delighted to have Siddharth living in her home and existing in her life.

One evening, as she is preparing for bed, Druki asks her mother about the death of Siddharth’ mother. Searching for words to give peace to her daughter, the woman tells Druki that God took Siddharth’s mother away because he loved her so much. Siddharth learns of this and is puzzled, wondering how it is possible that God loved his mother more than he. The question burns in his mind like a sliver and, try as he might, he cannot banish the tormenting thought. In his young wisdom, he finally realizes that the only one who does know the answer is God Himself. And thus begins Siddharth’s epic journey to find God and pose the question to him.

With a childlike innocence, he begins this journey by asking those around him where God lives. Since no one can tell him where God lives, he decides to find out for himself. He begins on this path by watching those around him whose lives appear to be spiritual, feeling they may know where God resides. He visits temples, follows religious processions, spies on priests – always searching for clues that will lead him to God… always to no avail.

In the depths of depression, the pointer to the direction he must go, finally and unexpectedly comes to him in the form of an old man who says he knows where God lives. The old man explains that, of course, God lives in the middle of the Himalayas. Enlightened and excited, he now prepares to embark upon the high path to God’s home. As they learn about this, his cousin Druki and Siddharth’s best friend, Raju, implore him to take them along. At first he resists, but when he understands that they too have questions for God, there is no way he can refuse. And so, the three set out to find God in his home.

They begin their arduous trek riding atop a bus. But, before long, the bus’ passengers grow suspicious and they are forced to continue on foot. Along the way a helper comes to them – almost as if he has been sent to do so. Ali, a teenager who works at a highway motel, gains them passage on an Army truck, also joining them as he, too, has questions for God and is inspired by Siddharth’s plan. A harrowing struggle ensues as they ford a river, desperately scavenge for food and dare the howling winds of the Himalayas. As they continue their journey into the clouds – further challenges assail and assault the quartet… yet none can deter them.

And then, true tragedies strike – Raju plunges through melted snow and drowns. In the thin atmosphere, Druki draws her final breadth. And even Ali vanishes into the consuming mists of the upper reaches of the Himalayas.

At last, Siddharth alone reaches the mountain respite that is God’s true home. In triumph and humility, Siddharth poses his questions to God – questions that all mankind has pondered since time immemorial. THIS INSANITY MUST STOP ( Our National Security is AT STAKE)

It is high time this INSANITY SHOULD STOP. The reason why the U.S economy is so vulnerable to Wall Street speculation is because of SHORT SELLING. The economists DO NOT REALIZE that these people (short sellers) are like PRINTING MONEY UNHINDERED. Earning money at the expense of others (short selling) is NOT EARNING BUT STEALING. It's the same reason why we can't print money freely because it is tantamount to stealing.

UNLESS the regulators BAN THIS SHORT SELLING IN THE STOCK MARKET, Americans will continue to SUFFER ECONOMICALLY as what is happening now. The ENEMIES of America does not need an airplane to crash to our buildings. They only need to PLAY UP THE OIL PRICE IN THE STOCK MARKET and then start BETTING ON THE OTHER STOCKS TO FAIL thru SHORT SELLING. Not only can they ruin the economy of America, but they can also make themselves rich by doing so.

NOW WHERE ARE THE BRAINS OF OUR LEADERS AND ANALYSTS ?

BAN SHORT-SELLING AND IMPLEMENT THAT OIL PRICE STABILIZATION MECHANISM NOW and all will be well again.

That 700 billion dollar bail-out should be used to relieve American homeowners by lowering their mortgage interest rates and those who already lost their homes should be asked to return with their payments restructured.

WE NEED THAT OIL PRICE STABILIZATION MECHANISM LAW NOW.

We have seen how the price of oil jumped 16 points in just one day for no valid reason. It's very clear that the government (both Congress and the executive branch) has NOT DONE anything to rein-in speculators. It is therefore NOT farfetched that oil would rise up again to an all time high as before.

I hope they would now legislate a bill that would rein-in the STUPIDITY of these speculators. Oil has been the lifeblood of world economy and people should not be allowed to play on this commodity. It's very clear that the speculators are not using their minds. They do not understand that they are slowly hanging themselves as the price of oil shoots up to where the economy cannot perform anymore. Their money would be deemed useless if there would be a work stoppage worldwide.

I hope Congress would make a law that would put a price cap on oil everytime speculators are playing with it. If the price of oil today (Monday) is 120 dollars per barrel, the price cap tomorrow (Tuesday) should be 120 dollars per barrel. Since it cannot go up that price, there would be massive panic selling which would pull down it's price. If the price of oil closes at 110 dollars tomorrow (Tuesday), the price cap should be set at 110 dollars per barrel on Wednesday. There is no way to go for the price of oil but DOWN if this mechanism would be put into place. Once the oil price reaches a SANE LEVEL of maybe about 90 dollars, regulators can then SWITCH-OFF that mechanism so it can settle to it's true value. There must be a body that can switch that mechanism on or off as the need requires.

We NEED THAT MECHANISM NOW AND CONGRESS SHOULD ACT NOW BEFORE THESE IDIOTIC SPECULATORS WOULD HAMMER THE ECONOMY AGAIN.

This guy, Mehlman, is sorely lacking as an economic commentator. He has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. He probably doesn't even know how credit works or what reserve requirements are. This is a "People Magazine" level of anaylsis... at best.

For crying out loud according to Mehlman everyone who buys shares is a sucker... because of some ridiculous Hebrew saying.

Debt is the big problem - the main problem. That is why the entire US needs to bail itself out of as much debt as can possibly be erased. This can only realistically be achieved by forgiving within the confines of our own country any and all debts currently miring our society down. This means that what you now have and are making payments on, is now yours lock, stock, & barrel. You own your home, car, small business outright and you don't owe anyone a dime. If we pick up from this point and "start over", we can salvage our country and begin to clear away the burdensome clouds hanging over our entire society. All are forgiven starting with the legitimate citizens who have managed to keep themselves afloat and not already been eaten alive by the myriad of "traps" built into the system for the average American. All those with a certain "credit score" are very simple to identify. They should be placed upon the new list (still to be created) of those first in line to be forgiven of all their debts. Once these "faithful" have been secured, the rest of the lower credit score folks will be able to follow suit soon enough. In this way, we will inject strength and hope - almost like discovering a whole new world. If this sounds a bit outlandish, I can only suggest you come up with a better and more fair solution, then.

You have to add one fact of life to this depressing but correct analysis: economies must either grow or shrink, especially under capitalism. You may think we have enough cars, big enough houses, plenty of high-calorie food and more than enough electronic goodies, but sadly we have to be even bigger pigs every year or the economy collapses. It has to grow. To grow when it is already in excess leads to ever more desperate measures to grow even more. The current crisis is the result of this need to grow when you are already too big.

From the time humanity started, there never was a practice that a person can sell what he DOESN'T OWN. It is only logical that NOBODY can sell a house or any property which he doesn't own. And yet, this kind of practice is LEGALLY done in the stock market thru SHORT SELLING. That is the term they use for the "PUT OPTION" in stock trading. YES, it is legal to sell stocks which you don't own in the stock market thru short selling. What happens is the one engaging in short selling gets a profit from the loss of another. The lower the stocks plunge the richer they become. What is worse is if they make creative ways to pull it down. That is how insane the stock market has become. GREED and INSANITY has become their god.

Finally, upon seeing that there's a possiblity that all banks around the world could collapse because of this practice, they've made a decision to TEMPORARILY BAN SHORT SELLING. It was not a galant act on their part but only a REACTION TO SURVIVE. They are only TEMPORARILY STOPPING THEIR GREED TO SURVIVE.

It was NOT the planned government BAILOUT which saved the market although it could help ease the money crunch. I hope the bailout would bring down mortgage interest rates so homeowners would also benefit. With the government now owning Fannie and Freddie and the planned absorption of foreclosed properties thru a massive 700 billion dollar bailout, the government has NOW the POWER to REDUCE them.

The point is, let SANITY PREVAIL. The government should now focus on that ONE GOAL to bring DOWN mortgage interest rates and MOST IMPORTANTLY make SHORT SELLING BE BANNED PERMANENTLY.

The PRESURE TO BRING IT BACK coming from the SHARKS would be great. I think Bush would buckle to the pressure. What we need is a next president who can STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT. The presidential candidate who can promise to abolish SHORT SELLING ( profiting from the LOSS of others) should be the NEXT President.

Greed does seem to be a universal vice these days. What's irritating about the US CEOs who have contributed to the present-day debacle is that for years and years they have protested against any regulation or government intervention in their dealings. Now that disaster has stuck, they are pleading for government help. Still worse, many of the CEOs will depart their collapsing banks with millions of dollars in bonuses. If we, the US taxpayers must bail out the irresponsible investment bankers, then the CEOs should be stripped of their bonuses and the large fortunes they accumulated on the job.
Further, if we the taxpayers are now underwriting mortgages, then those who have large incomes and large savings should not be permitted to benefit from a tax-exempt mortgage that depletes the income flowing to the US government and encourages these tax-oayers to construct enormous mansions. Tax exemption should be given to those in need, not those who already have too much.

Unfortunately for people throughout the world, Bush and all other leaders et al with their venerable armies of advisers could not see the failings of the market system. Indeed, they worshiped the system like it was a religion. So these same people are now saying that they will be our saviours and fix the system that they up to two weeks ago adored, are to be expected to make things better. I do not think so and all this is a load of 'hot' air as usual. Things are going to be bad, very bad indeed for quite a few years now (possibly at least a decade) and no matter what these idiots say, I would not believe them if they were the last people living on this planet. Their hypocrisy is without compare.

Considering everything, the capitalist system is totally flawed. Only the few benefit with wealth far in excess of their wildest dreams whilst millions starve to death every year (I thought again that our present leaders were doing something substantial about this awful situation, but I have not heard/seen anything of any major substance yet). Economics has now to change to 'need' economics from the greed economics of the past. If not, the capitalist system will eventually be the end of human life on this planet. It is only a matter of decades and not centuries we are looking at here as natural resources deplete.

Let us hope therefore that the financial collapse of major institutions that exploited/supported past greed to the limits and where the US government is now pumping in at least US1 trillion just to buy the debt that they have created, will make our political masters see the light and that a new dawn has to be forged based upon humanitarian principles and not the planet's destructive forces - super capitalism (globalization).

They refuse to learn from history, or from the lessons of 1929 and of all the other black days since then, when stock exchanges collapsed time after time. There has been always enough fresh blood to believe that it won't happen again or it won't happen to us. Suckers never die.

Economic disasters begin with America, but this isn't an American disease anymore. It's global. From Beijing to Moscow, from Delhi to Tel Aviv, the world herds have followed blindly the tunes of the Wall Street pied piper. The roots of the problem are in greed, arrogance, stupidity and ignorance; in short, in basic human futilities. Therefore, the remedies to be offered are difficult. It's not sufficient to change the ideology, say, from cruel and ugly capitalism and unstoppable globalization, to sensitive and sensible social democratic ideals in which the state regulates the markets and the government cares for its own citizens and imposes tough punishments on financial charlatans and criminals.
No, in order to achieve real reforms there is a need to change the human nature. I would say that's too ambitious a project.

i agree about the risk, but sometimes the deck can be stacked or the house may simply be cheating. would you then recommend that one bets against a cheating house? i agree that life is full of risks. even risks like running across the freeway through high speed traffic for some guaranteed stack of cash or the hand of a beautiful lady at the other side will have some takers (just watch some of the shows on MTV if you think i exaggerate). the problem arises when it is a promise of cash or lass, and upon making it across, one finds there is no prize waiting.

Well, investment is about taking risks. The greatest risk is not taking a risk at all. We take risks everyday in life, so we should not bank because we have witnessed banks collapse? So the stock exchange should not exist because of the Great Depression? Well then no business should take place because there is risk of potential lose. What goes up comes down and vice versa, the devalued shares will rise in time and investors will get their money back. Be patient invetsors and dont be discouraged, you made a wise decision investing, at the right timing, sell your shares.
