Since the modern birth of the state of Israel following the 1947 UN Partition Resolution, which was rejected by the Arab states and the leaders of the Palestinian community, and especially since the 1967 war, two major ideas defined in two sharp phrases have dominated the Arab-Israeli (and international) public discourse.
