Baqi Barzani:

Peace is achievable only through mutual respect and understanding. One of the prerequisite of attaining this goal is by completely denouncing violence, putting a stop to it and resuming talks. Both parties must be willing to sit down and reconcile. The Annapolis peace summit was a very affirmative initiative and hopefully it will bear some constructive results for both Palestinians and Israelis

Tilt, tilt:

Game over

seajay 14:

Any hope for Bush's roadmap ? I wonder why?

Iggy Stemkowski, Chicago:

You are a freak, jew zionist Yossi Melman. The only thing we need in 2007 is more freak, jew zionist blood in the gutters of Israeli cities. The passion that hates the scum jew zionist like you for what you are is wide and deep in this country. This year I carry a gun in hopes of meeting you.

Victoria:

What about is Bush is innocent? i'm not saying i'm sure he is, maybe he is, maybe's not, but what about if he is? No one can really say who is the devil and who is the saint, all what we have are a few "big" names (bush, bin laden, saddam, bla bla) and some believeble doubts (did he do it? didn't he do it?, if he did, why did he?) but in the end, still, no one can really say who is in the circle truth and who is outside... so in my poor opinion, everyone should keep the doubts, the fear and the hopenes for themself, and just hope everything will be right and nice one day, and not only spending time now saying "this one is the guilty, this other one too and so on..."
Just my 10 cents opinion..

DE Teodoru, NYC, USA:

When Olmet came to Wash DC last spring seeking an extra $10 billion thst year, Bush made him earn it by making him attack Lebanon--> Syria-->Iran. As Israel gets stuck, said Bush, he would use help to an ally in trouble to justify US firepower against Syria and Iran. Unfortunately, the Israeli Air Force failled to destroy Hezbollah and Israel was like the US: stuck with soldiers who fight to live against guerrillas who fight to die.

Deep in debt, Israel is currently manipulated by Bush. But sooner or later, the Shia Crescent will seek peace in order to survive the other Sunni shoe.

Mehlman is an astude and studious Israeli journalist who tries hard to be realist and objective. As one who stuck his neck out to predict, we should engage him in discussion, not pooh=pooh his wise words...even if we think them all wrong!

He can read Olmert far better than most and if Olmert chose to declare himself free for Bush's sinking Ship of State, Mehlman is very likely to notice it before most others.

Your application to edit the verbosity out of Calvin Coolidge's memoir has been accepted! (-;

Mike:

Blah, blah, blah. I hate America. And Israel too. See how much smarter I am than the average American?

Roy:

Osam will only be captured when the Bush family wants him captured which will probably be never. The Bush family is obliged to the Bin Ladens for past oil deals and loans. Don't you ever wonder why the Bush US intelligence establishment can read your license plate from outer space, listen to your phone calls, monitor your text messages, read your mail, etc but can't find Osama?

Sami:

To make a long story short Saddam was a pawn whom America use and dumped when he crossed the line or rather left dangling at the end of a long rope.
But in the end he redeemed himself. Standing amongst his executioner he seemed imperious and dignified. His last words are a ringng testimony "there is no God but one God for us all and Mohammad.."(that's when he dropped)is his prophet. While his opponents shouted Moqtada, Moqtada.

"Israeli propoganda"?

I for one believe that peace between Israel and Syria would solve a huge number of complicated issues. First, a longterm peace with Syria would require a return of a significant amount of the Golan (something Olmert denied would ever happen as recently as a few months ago)and for the Israeli side a complete end of military support for Hizbullah. It would also probably result in a loss of military support for Hamas and other militant groups thereby giving moderates the upper hand.

Alas the above still seems a distant dream given that monkeys, who cannot look beyond their snouts when it comes to analyzing foreign policy and dynamics, are running the White House right now.

Most importantly if Syria and Israel make peace, that eliminates Syrian dependence on Iran for military cover and marginalizes their role in the region and hopefully the loss of such a key ally and blanket Syrian approval for their own ideology, they will moderate their stance on the nuclear issue. I am not sure if they will give up enrichment, but a much more transparent and IAEA accessible nuclear program should be the goal the International community works towards. The West needs to drop their preconditions that make this negotiation process a non starter and focus on the transparency issue. They have enrichment know-how already and can easily take it underground if pressured too much.

Mary:

It would be very strange that we never ever find Bin Laden. If ever he were captured alive, which I doubt very much, the world would probably be treated to a repeat performance of a Saddam style trial: quickly hung so that he doesn't reveal things that the neocons don't want us to know.

Sami:

Like Saddam, Bin Ladin is no longer relevent.
The damage to American prestige is already done by this senseless war with no clear end in sight.

B-Man:

me too:

yeah...thats what israel want. Interesting future? other comments?

Disgusted:

Oh! How nice to hear from Yossi Mehlman again. There are no other voices in the world that need tobe heard? Nothing but Israel propoganda shall be heard? Dear God, enough.
