While awareness and concern about the effects of climate change has increased dramatically in the past few months in India, there is no real support for what’s seen as a rich-driven agenda to reverse this. Committing to standards the developed world never committed to would harm India's growth.

If you think about it - the so called security perils of climate change can be easily solved by simply opening Australia and Canada to free and massive immigration from populous developing countries like China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, etc. After all they are pretty empty now!

I agree 200 percent with Mr. Shekhar Gupta. The developed economies are still emitting CO2 with no control put on it. Mere talking factories would yield results not more than awareness on the matter. This issue has to be collectively tackled mostly by the developed countries by helping developing countries giving much needed technologies to help them to use the energy resources more efficiently by reducing amount of greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time developed economies must invest more on clean technologies instead of simply burning traditional coal and gas. In the developing countries majority of the people are mainly worried about their bread and butter for the day and not about the luxury of living in a clean world or about global warming and consequences for that matter. Rich countnries shoud put a human face (of millions of poors) onto it while asking poor countries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
