Those eagerly expecting the African Union to loudly and harshly condemn Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe for terrorizing Zimbabweans and holding a one-man phony election are day-dreaming.

Im glad to find journelists that actually say things as is. Im sure those that can assist, those with people at heart, those that know what democracy stands for are going to help and save Zimbabwe from Mugabe.
Journelism should work in the interest of the people not as what they do in Zimbabwe espacially at State sponsered Herald newspaper whereby when you call your friend, you hear that he is out of the office, gone to the State House where he is writting a story. Surely speaking, what kind of news do we get when the CIO are the ones that edit the stories?

Its sad to see some people standing up to support the treatment that we are being subjected to in Zimbabwe. If Mugabe has respect in Africa, why dont you take him wherever he is respected and allow us to reclaim our humanity. No one is talking about the land issue here. I shudder to here people saying that if whites are owning more land than blacks and you take it back, then you will be justified to murder your own people, jail those who oppose you and torture and rape women with dissenting voices. People who are openly saying if you are a war hero, you can go ahead and use armed men to go to rural areas and torture unarmed civilians, simply because they do not support a revolutionary party! Shame on you all Mugabe and Zanu PF supporters. There is only one place you are assured of going to. Hell to the devil satan with the same mind

Mr. Wachai,
You write: 'When Kenya was struggling for the introduction of multiparty politics in the 1990s, its then President, Daniel Moi, just like Mugabe would yell “the British want to colonize us again.” Kenyans and the international community didn’t buy his story'.
Oh, yeah? Whom did they elect to replace Moi --Kibaki? Did he deliver on revising the constitution? Did he bring to account, in addition to Kamlesh Pattni, all those corrupt politicians and high officials (including at the Central Bank) who were directly or ondirectly involved in the Goldenberg scandal? I did not hear YOUR voice denouncing anybody!
Today, at long last, I read with a sigh of relief that Finance Minister Amos Kimunya has been asked to step down.
I don't know yet whether he actually will or not; and I don't know what will happen if he resists.

Finaly a reporter finally told people the truth about Africa and its many currupt, evil, murdring dictators. Africa my whole life has been seen as a continent of suffering, pain and hunger. It is a shame that one day when my grand children grow up (i currently do not even have chldren), they wil think the same of Africa as i did.
America likes the title of world police, its about time they start finding breaches in international law that prevent the international community from intervening into soverign nations affairs and forcefully intervene and do some good. Bush, your legacy could get a real boost if you actually liberated the people of just one of the many African countries where people are killed for the sake of one man holding the power.
At least Clinton said failing to intervene in Rwanda was one of my biggest regrets.
Thanks again to Njoroge Wachai for straight talking the situation in Africa.

You article reflects wisdom of a true son of Africa. Those of us who love our continent must shout and shout very loud when these senseless old men areplundering it. Mugabe must go at all costs and no matter how long it takes.

In my sixty-six years on this earth, I have lived to see Africa throw off the bonds of European imperialism only to exchange them for even worse shackles forged by home-grown African despots. Africans pretty much universally suffer economic chaos and social repression perpetrated not by foreigners and outsiders, but by other Africans.
Until Africa and Africans demand decent governance, the continent will continue to lag severely behind the rest of the world socially and economically.

What journalism is this. You are a puppet of the west and intellectually corrupt. Long live must mugabe. Rule zimbabwe and handover to patriot like you and not a sell out like morgan.
And you ignorant njoroge wanting to get some favours with the western media first critize your kikuyu vote stealer who was interestingly backed by the west because he is their guy.
Where in the world have you seen 4000 white families controlling 70% of the prime land of zimbabwe.
Africa does not need fake democracy used by west to put in stooge leaders like tsvingray. Today in Africa we don't patriotic leaders who are not corrupt and put the interest of their country first and after ruling a while handover power to leader of similar ideology. The Chinese style of governance. Mind you the west attempted to destablize China in 1989 prodemocracy students. A great leader, Deng xziaopang crushed those dellusional student. China is better of for that today.
Poor mr njoroge you don't know what is at stark in southern Africa today. So shut up and go eat irio to grow potbelly.

Mugabe is not bad as the west describe him to be. He is a hero, and one of the most respected leaders in the African continent. I think the west knows better where the problem of Zimbabwe stands. How can 80% of the Zimbabwean population lack access to land? We all know that the west want control over African resources and by giving sunctions to these African countries is a mean of showing that we still control your economy. So we as Aficans don't want any body to control us any more, we want to prosper and we want to depend on our own means of life not living on the western way of corruptions. Africa dont want soft corruptions from the west. We want our land back and we want to take control of it, not the west.

Thumbs up to the government of Botswana for their stand on Zimbabwe matters. Batswana are mostly affected by the political situation just like South Africa, especial in towns and villages sharing boundries with Zimbabwe. People live in fear of the indangered Zimbabweans running from the fist of Mugabe.

Raila Odinga has a comment on Zimbabwe? Really, this man who used his people as cannon fodder, so that he could be made prime minister of Kenya. Raila Odinga should be ashamed of himself.

Excellent article!
If the honorable leaders of the African continent want to be respected they need to oust the incompetent, the criminal, and dictators.
Its really is quite that simple, isn't it?
South Africa is not deserving of its role as a leader in the community when it shirks its responsibilities and kisses up to Mugabe.

Mr. Wachai, you have stated this very succinctly. Shortly before Mugabe left Zimbabwe for the AU summit in Egypt he said that he was going to that submit to see which African leaders would make the mistake and criticize him and his government over the way he is ruling his country and people given that nearly every African leader himself lives in a glass house. In fact he specifically said that he knows of African leaders who are worse than he. The continent, under the rulership of those power-thirsty and mindless reprobates, is destined to continue to experience undemocratic rule, disease and poverty, mal-nutrition, underdeveolpment, and economic and political corruption.
