great site

Very interesting.

Margaret Mueller:

"Religious intolerance is not an insurmountable obstacle to women's progress."

The women of our Greek Orthodox heritage are the descendants of the wise women who survived four hundred years of Islamic persecution. We have the genetic heritage of those survivors, but we have lost the "dhimmi",or psychologically "subdued" behaviors of the conquered Hellenic culture that resonated in the lives of our parents and grandparents. We have the benefits of living in a country that because of its dominant Christian culture allows and encourages us to get an education. That is why we are able to achieve, and living in dar-al-Islam would not give us that opportunity.

"Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it." Corollary: Those who do not remember the struggles of their ancestors may doom the world.

For 1,300 years Islam has violently persuaded local populations to embrace their way of life or die. In the 20th, and 21st century it has been no different, and where state of the art gynecological and obstetric hospitals have offered services they've been shut down by the religious factions. The more than 300 Indonesian Christian women (two pregnant)who were forceably circumsized last year when they took refuge in a mosque during Christian persecution had no choice. During the Taliban, women's health deteriorated to extinction in Afghanistan. Only in a Christian-dominated society has women's health care been researched, women's health issues discussed openly for their benefit, have effective strategies been developed for addressing women's health needs on a nation-wide basis, and provided venues for women's health care. A world dominated by Islam would send women's health care, and many other positive aspects of modern culture back to the 4th century tribal values it seeks to preserve.
