In my experience, the only people who talk about the backlash of immigration are the politicians who like any issue that can be construed as a threat. Immigrants have made countries richer, they have become some of America's greatest scientists, as well as providing everyday services. Lower the fences.

They are all saying that the immigrants are making us pay for many things that are hurting us. Like their medical bills, taxes, and other resources. Well I wonder once we have deported them, will the government give us back our piece of the pie. Will our medical go down? Will our taxes be lower? Will we get a refund? Or will we have to pay more now that the IRS will no longer have that money coming in…
It is like Mr. Miklos Vamos said the government will just pick and chose a certain issues that will scare the Americans people, just like the gay marriage issues. Where is that issues now? Let us just wait and see where this all will end up. Who will win or lose?
We should be trying to win over Central and South America instead of allowing Chaves to influence these countries to vote for the communist party.
I think we are losing focus. While China opens there doors we seem to be closing ours. Where are we headed?

A Mexican propagandist wrote, "Well....let's see. What jobs do I tend to see immigrants working on? Farm harvest jobs....fast food....janitorial services.... I could get any or all of these jobs if I wanted. In fact, even with our illegal immigrants, none of the restaurants around me ceased hiring. [...] But from what it looks like, companies are hiring illegals not simply because they're cheaper, but because nobody else is willing to do the jobs they do."
The law of supply and demand in economic science is quite clear. If there is a shortage of American citizens willing to do job XYZ, then the wages of job XYZ rise (and the working conditions improve) to the point at which more American citizens want to do job XYZ.
A shortage of labor is a normal part of a labor market. A shortage boosts wages and improves working conditions. The free market, all by itself, will fix any shortage of labor. There is no need for the government to intervene by importing desperate labor from Mexico or India.
When government intervenes to eliminate the shortage, this intervention damages the normal operation of the free market. This intervention suppresses wages and worsens working conditions.
By contrast, Mexican bigots claim that a shortage of labor permanently damages the economy. They claim that a shortage is an abnormal aberration.
Who is telling the truth? Mexican bigots or I?
Do not believe either Mexican bigots or me. You educate yourself. Spend a few hours to read the first couple of chapters in a standard economics textbook used by any reputable university. Try to prove me wrong!
After you confirm that my assertions are correct, join me in condenming the H-1B program and guest workers.

Well....let's see. What jobs do I tend to see immigrants working on? Farm harvest jobs....fast food....janitorial services....
I could get any or all of these jobs if I wanted. In fact, even with our illegal immigrants, none of the restaurants around me ceased hiring.
In those Economics 100 models we're all talking about, we'd be insisting on a few things that aren't true. First off, we're acting under average GDP per capita. You don't even need an econ class to know that wealth in our country is divided unevenly.
Second of all, and most importantly, these models operate only if we are operating at maximum output, which obviously we are not. GDP is constant in these models, yes, if productivity does not increase as a net result. This is certainly gray area, but considering that we don't technically have a shortage of jobs PERIOD, just jobs people would like to do, we're obviously not at maximum output.
But what do I know? I'm a skilled worker. Maybe there's a shortage of jobs I'm just not seeing in my corner of the US. But from what it looks like, companies are hiring illegals not simply because they're cheaper, but because nobody else is willing to do the jobs they do.
GDP evens out eventually when consumption both government and domestic rallies to the correct level. But investment, also a big part of the GDP, is likely going to rise when more unskilled workers hit the market and more equipment is generated to supply them. This raises the investment variable of your GDP equation. Average GDP may not rise considerably, but it's better than what the immigrants face in their own countries and those who make other products to supply them with goods and services (they buy cellphones too, you know) that will spur up the GDP in other sectors.

An Indian propagandist wrote, "economic reasons for H1B? now what could 0.7% of the workers give you? how about a group that made silicon valley what it is? how about 25% of startups and patents? how about some of the most important tech companies in your life- ever used hotmail? how about doctors that serve rural communities and hold distinguished professorships in the best universities?"
Note the implication in this propaganda. The Indian implies that admitting Indian H-1Bs boosted the American GDP per capita.
The fact is that admitting Indians did not boost GDP per capita. Think about this scenario. A big-mouthed Indian starts Hotmail. That big-mouthed Indian, all by himself, cannot run Hotmail. So, he hires some American citizens to work in his company. Then, he created wealth. Right?
Yes, he did create wealth. However, he also destroyed wealth. The American citizens that he hired quit their previous jobs at other companies. In other words, the big-mouthed Indian merely transferred wealth from the other companies to Hotmail. The net gain for the American economy is roughly zero.
Next, the Indian propagandist shouts, "Hey, man! Just open the flood gates to H-1B workers. Then, Hotmail can hire additional worker without transferring Americans citizens from their current companies to Hotmail. Then, we have a net gain of GDP."
Yes, we have a net gain of GDP. However, that GDP is now amortized among a bigger American population: (1) all the additional new H-1B folks hired into Hotmail and (2) the additional foreign workers (e.g., Mexicans) hired to support those folks. How did #2 enter the picture? More H-1B folks means more people who need dry cleaners, attendants at the local shops to sell products to those folks, more gas stations, etc. Etc. Etc.
In order words, the GDP per capita did not change.
Note that both Korea and Japan generally prohibit the hiring of foreign high-tech workers. Yet, both countries have prospered well.
Proponents of H-1B workers are outright liars. They exploit your ignorance of economic science. Do yourself a favor. Read a standard textbook on economics from any reputable university. The effort will arm you with the knowledge to condemn Indian propagandists.
Furthermore, Indian propagandists claim that labor shortages damage the American economy. Therefore, according to these liars, we must hire Indian H-1Bs.
What does economic science say? Labor shortages are normal. They indicate the underpricing of labor. If a rural community has an insufficient number of physicians, then that community must increase the pay offered to doctors working at the public hospital.
When Washington intervenes by injecting foreign labor into the labor market to "fix" a supposed labor shortage, the government actually damages the operation of the free market. Government never fixes a labor surplus (like the one leading to massive layoffs in Detroit). Why should government fix a labor shortage?
I condemn Indian propagandists.

Consider the United States. It has about 300 million citizens. Its gross domestic product (GDP) is about $12 trillion. The GDP per capita is about $40,000.
Suppose that we inject 300 million desperate Indians (from India) into the USA. Its population suddenly doubles to 600 million people. The GDP remains the same at $12 trillion. The GDP per capita falls to $20,000.
In this scenario, we assume a constant level of technology. Over time, the GDP grows rapidly as the economy aborbs the 300 million Indians. Eventually, the GDP reaches $24 trillion, and the GDP per capita returns to $40,000. (Actually, the GDP per capita will exceed $40,000 slightly due to the comparative advantage of the larger population.) Once GDP per capita reaches $40,000, the growth spurt ends.
The propaganda game that pro-immigration bigots play is the following. They shout, "Look at the tremendous wealth that 300 million Indians added to the American nation. The GDP increased by $12 trillion to $24 trillion! Wow! Awesome!"
What is the error in the reasoning of the pro-immigration bigots? Well, the total GDP is not the correct measure of your wealth. The correct measure is GDP per capita. Adding 300 million Indians did not increase your wealth or my wealth at all.
There is no economic necessity, whatsoever, for H-1B workers, illegal aliens, or an open border.
When a nation, like the United States, has a sufficiently large population (on the order of hundreds of millions of people), dumping hordes of immigrants into the nation offers almost no economic benefit. Indeed, in the short term and the medium term, a large number of immigrants actually suppresses wages and diminishes working conditions -- in both high-tech jobs and low-tech jobs.
A study by Harvard University demonstrated that illegal aliens from Mexico actually suppressed the wages of unskilled American labor by about 8%.
There is no economic justification for immigrants. Immigration can be justified on only ethical grounds. For example, the United States regularly offers political asylum to anyone who is fleeing dire political persecution.
How should we Americans deal with the flood of people from India, Mexico, and elsewhere? Washington should intervene aggressively in foreign countries that flood their people into the USA. A larger flood means a larger degree of intervention by us.
Consider Mexico. Its society is a total and utter failure because Mexican culture is a failure. To deal with this failure, we give the Mexican government a plan to Westernize Mexico. We order the Mexican government to implement this plan. If a Mexican politician obstructs this Westernization plan, then we aggressively punish the offending Mexican politician. We (1) freeze his assets (and the assets of his relatives) in the West, (2) declare him (and his relatives) persona non grata thoughout the West, and (3) deny him (and his relatives) any access to Western medical facilities even if such denial results in his death (or his relative's death). Further, we Americans will fund and promote Mexican politicians who are committed to Westernization. We will run Mexico like a colony. Of course, if Mexican drug smugglers enter American territory, the American military will pursue them -- even into Mexican territory. If the Mexican military interferes in our pursuit of Mexican criminals, then we kill the soldiers in the Mexican military.
P.S.
----
Most Americans have never taken a course in economics. As a result, they are easily manipulated by (1) lying, deceptive bigots in the pro-immigration groups, (2) lying, deceptive lobbyists for American companies, and (3) lying, deceptive American politicians who have been purchased by American companies or pro-immigration groups. Bigots, lobbyists, and politicians deliberately state economic lies in order to fool the ignorant American voter.

We know that Mexicans and other Latin Americans are coming to the United States because they believe that there are jobs for them in the U.S. Immigrants from North Africa and the Middle East come to Europe for the same reasons. If there were no jobs for these people, they simply wouldn't come--what would be the point? It is simple supply and demand.
If we allowed open immigration, those people who were looking for a better life could enter developed nations through the front doors, rather than the dangerous routes they often take under present laws. If immigrants weren't constantly living in fear of deportation, they could trust our governments, so it would be much easier to track them. They would also pay more taxes and be in a position to improve themselves rather than remaining poor.
All of this would make our nations more secure, because we would have (1) immigrants who trust governments and do not feel like they are disenfranchised; (2) the ability to record which people are in our countries, making it easier to maintain security; (3) the ability to better defend borders, because anyone who came through the desert (ocean, etc.) would clearly be a criminal.
