If Mexico's electorate takes 2009's election seriously enough, Mexican politicians might start working for the people instead of benefiting from them

The writer of the article is totally wrong about what he says about the polls. Most mexicans do not wanted the reform proposed by calderon.
The oposition organized a referendum about that and almost 90% of the people opposed the plan of calderon.

Mexico's decintegration reveals the hypocricy, pomposity, diabolical, and disingenuine heart of America's global empire. Its long time neighbor is destroyed right under the belly of Uncle Sam and his glare is far past Mexico looking to pump billions into Israel and seeking control of energy in Asia?
Ha. If there weren't so many people suffering from this terrible reality, it would be a proper comeuppance and vainglorious.

Unfortunately things in Mexico are going to become even worse. Under the PAN one would think that Mexico would have the power to fully gain control of their own country, but the power of the drug cartels to intimidate knows no boundaries. One now sees direct attacks against Mexico's armed forces, something literally unheard of, but today a common occurrence.
I think the election will not bring change, for the quintessential paradigm put forth by the cartels to all of those in power-- "lead or silver?" will effectively eliminate any attempts at reform. Add the effects of NAFTA, where goods move freely across the border, the distribution of drugs has only increased.
Americans cannot grasp the billions of dollars the drug industry represents in Mexico, nor fathom the millions of dollars paid out to individuals who are prosecutors, police, etc.
Mexico's problem is brought on by the insatiable American appetite for drugs, therefore we have a duty to aid the Mexican government in ever way possible. If Americans complain about the number of illegal immigrants, just imagine the explosion of immigrants seeking refuge from the ever increasing internal war and instability in Mexico.
