Prosperity? We're Not There Yet

Growth and affluence don't equal prosperity: they push people down just as hard as they lift others up.

Yes, Mighty 7, the middle class in this country is suffering SOOOO very much. That's why all the illegal immigrants are busting down our doors to get here.

That's why we all drive big fat SUVs, and we all weigh far too much, and we all buy nothing but McMansions. (Well, many of us do. TOO many of us!)

It's just SOOOO hard for the average Joe. Boo Hoo!

Not buying that, buddy. (But I do enjoy that good whine you served, though)

We have it great in this country. compared to the rest of the world. If you can't figure that out, then you need some (more?) time on the couch!

Leave it to another retarded righwinger to simply ignore someone's opinion because they are from a different culture or race. When the message is too much of a truth, point out the mole of the forehead of the messenger and hopefully everyone will forget about the message. Nice try there Tommy Boy. Not buying your tactics though.

As for the article, I agree with it, though the message is not 100% all there.

To me is very simple: Every average Dick and Jane in America complaints about immigration and fears that America will eventually turn into another Mexico. Fair enough. All valid.

Here is the catch: Did you know that Mexico City has the one of highest percentage of rich people in the world?..Did you now one of the richest man in the world is a Mexican , Carlos Slim Helu (second richest )?....The reason why Mexico is the mess that is now is because all the wealth of the country is in the hands of less than 0.5 of the population. There is no middle class in Mexico, or barely any, and only in the major cities.

So yes, America will end up like Mexico at this rate. But not because the immigrants, mind you. We do not need them for that. We will become like Mexico because good old fashion greed and an a drive to exploit the lack of regulation is the norm among the CEO's and their festering lobbyists in Washington DC. For decades the Old Guard has beens selling Americans a ponzy scheme called unregulated Capitalism. And the populous, too uneducated and burnt out on working so hard to survive has let it go assuming it was their national duty to defend such system.

Now everyone realizes all those companies, all those Captains of Industry weren't in for the nation, for the people...There was no loyalty, neither to the workers nor the consumers. It was all to make money at any cost. And while both ends get shafted on a daily basis, these Corporations keep at it, unregulated, unstoppable, milking everyone daily, and keeping the con alive while their overseas bank accounts keep getting fatter and their taxes smaller.

Capitalism can only survive as long as there is a healthy, stable middle class with money to spend. That is not the case now and it has not been for decades, and thus the mess we are in...

So yes...Lamis Andoni is right on the money, although she said it in a very repetitive and uninspiring way.

Leave it to an Al Jazeera journalist to recast the debte in terms of violent competition!
