What still moves me the most are possibly all the signs of persistent European civilization, as well as Europe's new openness, to which you yourself have referred (e.g. the open borders). I am in a position to compare, having stayed in Greece during the dreadful Colonels' episode, and in Spain when could be heard Franco's last beastly groans!

In a lighter vein, what I still appreciate the most is the European way of living or, some would say, lifestyle. I still hope my wife and I can spend our last years in that renewed Europe, preferably in France: for the country, the food, the wine, and to hear the musical language of my ancestors.

US troops must leave the Middle East.

Watch any video from Iraq involving the US army attacking some position. They always cheer as if the lives of others are worthless.

We will leave the Middle East when all of you leave Europe and America. There are at least 18 million Middle Easterners living in the West, how many are there in the Middle East? EUROPE: Where is your conscience? The US government is killing people under your watch. This madness can be stopped if the entire world stand against this government of wars, destruction and killing.

We Americans are a resilent, energetic, basically good people who are woefuly ignorant of other cultures. That ignorance has caused us to act out of fear and anger. The result has been to our own detriment. Most of us felt invading Iraq was going to free people liviing under a tyrant, and initiate change in a part of the world being held back by tyranny. We believe culture determines the success or failure of a country, and that politics, the extreme of which is armed conflict, can change culture and thereby enable a country to save itself. What we need to realize is, change must occur within a culture at a pace and ways that are indigenous, and largely without ourside military force. What can we do to enable change? We can teach people to read, help heal the sick, build wells and highways, bring technology to those without it. It is a slow and arduous process, but in the end, we will be better and truly safer for our efforts.

I have just realized something that the more time we spend in Iraq the more expert training the terrorists will get fighting the best army in the world.

Thats why they have all converged on Iraq. I think that we should offer all genuine democratic Iraqi's asylum in our countries and leave the rest of the terrorists to do themselves in .

An exceptionally strong sense of military isolationism is beginning to take hold in this country, and once it has, Europeans and others that get into a bind somewhere, are going to have to take care of it by themselves. We Yanks are not going to come a running.
