Endy M. Bayuni took up the job of chief editor of The Jakarta Post, Indonesia’s independent and leading English language newspaper, in August 2004 shortly after he returned from a one-year Nieman Fellowship at the Harvard University. Endy has been with the newspaper since 1991, working his way up from Production Manager (Night Editor), to National Editor, Managing Editor, and Deputy Chief Editor through all those years. He previously worked as the Indonesian correspondent for Reuters and Agence France-Presse between 1984 and 1991, and began his journalistic career with The Jakarta Post in 1983. Endy completed his Bachelors of Arts degree in economics from Kingston University in Surrey, England, in 1981. Close.

can you right more simple,please next time's
I thinks to day we are going to the rung way we are spending so much money on electronics, fancy life styles..flat screen TV or...and we forget world need food, need housing, need better health care...draming to became rich and fancy programs on are TV .teaching bad thinks ..drugs and alcoholism...just wast the money on war....I do not understand why we can not fight with capitalism ? who's give so much power and right to them?

The "Highest Common Denominator" makes sense within a "Security" paradigm; however, in a systemic world it might be better to look increasingly for options under a "Resilience" paradigm as proposed by J.Cooper in his recent "The Age of the unthinkable". That resilience would be increased with redundancies, adaptability and altruism.

America is only 5% of the world population and EU another 6%. They are living off the past when they roamed around the world and enforced their views, often with weapons.

That is gone, last and prior centuries stuff. It is time for cool-headed discussion and logic. It is also an opportunity these days as the former rich (read, self-believed rich, living off credit--the foam on the cappuccino) are facing historical challenges on the financial front.
