Burma's people deserve to be allowed freedom to decide their future without the heavy hand of an undemocratic military junta. But great care should be exercised when considering involving sports in political issues. For the most part, such attempts backfire and fail to accomplish the desired result.
While China certainly has influence over the Burmese junta (which has renamed the country under its thumb "Myanmar," against the wishes of its people), that is certainly not sufficient reason to punish the Chinese. Doing so would be like punishing Egypt because it hasn't done enough to force the Sudanese government to put an end to the terrible ordeal that the people of Darfur are facing.
