Amman, Jordan - North Korea clearly wasn't interested in its nuclear program per se. There was and still is little chance that they'll actually use nuclear weapons if they indeed have the capacity to make and deliver them.
Would they use it on Japan, the U.S. or their own people in South Korea? No, they just wanted entry into the club and wanted to leverage their new position to get what they need from these countries: recognition and money. Their negotiating position today is much better than it was a few months ago.
