Islam and Oil Are the Only Connections

Amman, Jordan - I am not sure what the direct connection is between the prosperity of Asia and the Middle East conflict. If there is any connection it has to do with the faith of many in Asia -- Islam -- and the fact that the Arab world sits on the biggest oil reserve in the world, which any development in Asia must take into account.

As to the Muslims in Asia, I am sure that they will continue to feel sympathy with their religious brethren in the Middle East, but doubt that this sympathy will go any further than that. Oil on the other is an extremely rare commodity whose price keeps going up and up. So other than a possible economic connection, I don't see the conflict in the Middle East having any major long term effects on Asia and its growth.
