Amman, Jordan - Breaking up Iraq is part of the colonial "divide and rule" strategy. But there is no alternative solution to what all Iraqis, including those who support the U.S., demand -- the departure of America and their allies.
So long as America is powerful, its diplomacy will continue to be powerful. The problem is that American's diplomacy has been corrupted. US values within the US so much the envy of the entire world are no where to be found when America flexis its foreign diplomatic muscle. America's foreign policy is nothing like American internal structures and values (even some of that is being corrupted like with spying on Americans etc).
Another major problem in US diplomacy is the exagerated effects of domestic political issues and lobbyists on the way the US conducts itself outside American territories. The overblown and exagerated powers of the pro Israel lobby are hurting the image of the US abroad and are causing American diplomats in effect to be working for something other than the interest of America. This is really the corruption of American diplomacy.
Amman, Jordan - Many in the Arab region believe that Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah demonstrates political integrity and a willingness to fight for his issues. The end of this conflict will strengthen their beliefs.
Amman, Jordan - I am not sure what the direct connection is between the prosperity of Asia and the Middle East conflict. If there is any connection it has to do with the faith of many in Asia -- Islam -- and the fact that the Arab world sits on the biggest oil reserve in the world, which any development in Asia must take into account.
Amman, Jordan - For over a month, I've viewed both Arab and foreign television stations. In addition to al Jazzera and Al Arrabiyeh, I regularly watch CNN, BBC, and Sky. Both Arab and foreign stations have been remarkably similar in their war coverage, as if competing for live coverage, interviewees, analysis and even graphic designs. But this similarity in coverage changed dramatically with the news of the foiled terror plot on the British Airways flights.
Amman, Jordan - [Pick: Real Life] If I did have time to read a book I am not sure what I would have chosen. I am not sure which nonfiction book I would choose because our lives, work and environment is full of politics and ideology. Nonfiction is also not an option because the drama that we are seeing daily is better than any thriller, spy book or a Hollywood action film.
Amman, Jordan - The war on Lebanon showed us the inability of the United Nations to take responsibility for world peace. Instead, the U.S. uses the UN when it wants and blocks it when it doesn't want. As such, the new UN force will have little chance of success if the Israelis and the Lebanese don't want it to work.
Amman, Jordan - I don't accept the logic of this question. Iran's pursuit of nuclear energy is as much her right as that of any other country in the region. Only if two conditions are met would I support a boycott on Iran.
Amman, Jordan - There is no easy solution to improving the U.S. image among Muslims and Arabs in the world. Superficial attempts don't convince people. Trust must be restored for attitudes to change. The United States needs to prove it is an honest broker in the Middle East conflict.
