Roy:
Similar story of Mexican immigrants who are used as scapegoats by American racists. So sad.
=======================================
A very ugly and foolish thing to say. And anyone investigating would discover the Federal Government does actively provide grants to minority individuals and in very serious amounts.
Let be clear here: there are far to many telling us we are racists when we object to the illegal aliens that have invaded this country. I have yet to hear much at all about immigrants, but when we are discussing illegal aliens, we are discussing a very, very serious problem for the United States.
This part is particularly critical: when those illegal aliens and their narcotics come to town, they wind up in the Barrio.. the Mexican American Community, and they use narcotics to gain favors with the local youth. From there, they establish drug franchises, and the ugly gets a lot worse before it is finished. And the effect is to see Mexican Americans fleeing the old neighborhoods right there with the rest of the folks.

Another forum about immigration and illegal aliens in Los Angeles, and well worth looking at.

Guru Nanak is the founder of the Sikh religion.
This is one story that impressed me.
He was travelling with a friend and came upon a village. Tired and hungry he sought help from the villagers. They scorned at him. Looked at him with suspicion. He spent the night under a tree outside the village. When he got up at dawn he raised his hands towards Heavens and prayed that may God bless this village. May this village prosper. His friend was puzzled. They were not kind to you he said and yet you bless them.
On they went and after a long journey arrived at a second village. The people of this village were very hospitable and they gave his food and place to rest.
In the morning it was time to go.
Nanak raised his hands towards Heavens and prayed, may God destroy this village and scatter its people. His friend was aghast and angry. You curse the people who were nice to you and you bless the people who were nasty with you.
When his friend kept asking why, Nanak explained the people of the first village must never be made to go out of their village because then they will spread their evil. The people of the second village will be forced to migrate and they will carry their goodness with them and it will spread.
And so I think as long as migrants keep coming to America/USA goodness will multiple.
A stagnant and evil country rarely attracts immigrants.
There must be something good in me and all the people before me whom God ordained to be an immigrant to this Great and blessed Country.

Just a couple of unmentioned points of political relevence: First I don't think you can talk about the Indian (there referred to as Asian) community in East Africa without mentioning Amin. Second when Tanzania nationalized most of its commerce under Nyerere it targeted Asian businesses, intentionally or unintentionally, but it certainly reduced the amount of criticism the move recieved. Finally I noticed that poachers are always said to be Somali. Not sure how much truth there is to that.

The Idea that when an immigrant makes good money in their new “country” is taking away from the locals is basically a jealousy thing, especially in the USA unless your are a Native Indian you are an immigrant or a descendent of one. Only dysfunctional human can think that way, you telling me someone came to your house and beat you fairly and all you can say is he did something illegal. There is only one explanation for that you do not have skills. Jealousy is bad thing to ware on your shoulders.

Mexicans would do well to curb the tendency of their countrymen to defecate on America by crossing the border illegally. If they love this country so much, and want our money, they could do us the courtesy of obeying our laws. Hating them as a culture wouldn't an issue if they didn't legitimately make themselves a target for it.

My family owns a chain of clothing stores and we are legal immigrants to America. My favorite is when Caucasian Americans tell me we are lucky that the American government gives us Free grants to open our stores. So much laughter. They think the federal government gives immigrants to this country free money. They havent a clue my father washed dishes in restaurants and cleaned bathrooms for 15 years to save enough money to open a small storefront that evolved into a chain of stores. Land of oppurtunity baby!

If you ever go into the inner cities here in the US, often times people of Oriental backgrounds with businesses are victims of such violence as well. Ex: A Chinese man with a small grocery store has his business and house vandalized because he is making too much money in a poor neighborhood.

Perhaps you've tapped the biggest reason why foreign investment is so hard to come by in Africa. Interesting viewpoint.
