Is there a growing global agenda -- that is, an agenda of issues being discussed that affects the world rather than individual countries? Or are local concerns still paramount?
The short answer is yes, there is global issues discussed.
It is the only blog that I know of that people from different ethnic backgrounds, religions, regions, and languages exchange ideas and chanllenge each other in civilized manner most of the time.
As I shared with Bashir Goth's readers before, this is the only place that I read two brothers disagreeing on issues without being disagreable.
At times, some of us stray away from the questions on the floor and resort to uncalled for name calling and ranting, but that itself is ok too. At least, we are not throwing deadly weapons at each others. Words can not kill anyone.
I will finish by asking where else one can read so many opposing points of view discussed, analysed, debated, and at times argued in passionate manner?
A wise saying is that people fear who they do not know. Dialogue between different people of different backgrounds and ideologies helps them know each other better. Here is where Post Global comes to play. Not only they lose their phobias of the other but shall realize at some level that they have so much in common (humanity) and are in it together and therefore need each other. No sane person would think of harming someone he needs, but works at cultivating a closer relationship.
PostGlobal is an interactive conversation on global issues moderated by Newsweek International Editor Fareed Zakaria and David Ignatius of The Washington Post. It is produced jointly by Newsweek and washingtonpost.com, as is On Faith, a conversation on religion. Please send your comments, questions and suggestions for PostGlobal to Lauren Keane, its editor and producer.
