Zahra J. SalehI :

I fullly agree with Mr. Goth with brillient opinion about how the Eurpeans are tunring their back to the Poor Africans after they export the cream of their continent into their treausrys a years ago. They made they mess and they have face and accept the consquence by developing African in terms of education, agriculture and technology, instead of closing their doors with steel lock which i completey unfair and injustices. By doing that the games will give and take and Africans will definetely will be in position to gain a decent life like the Eurpeans as this avoid or stop the immigration problems

Lavrat2000:

One of the things Africa could do to help itself is to not be a baby factory. There are simply too many people in African for the country and ecology to support. They need to like at the ONE CHILD policy of CHINA and get into birth control. Over population with respect to the land is one of Africa's biggest problems. Actually it is problem for the whole world. WE ARE OVERPOPULATED and this overpopulation is destroying the planet.

FunTravelAdventure:

Yes, it definitely is time to rethink Africa.

Keep them and all other immigrants out of the USA.

What in the hell do we need them for. Don't we have enough problems without importing more.

Keep em out.

Africa is staggering in its wealth. Africa is staggering in its corruption. It is very tricky business to comment on the governments of Africa because the hostility that is created is very high. Still, Mr. Goth casually suggests an overcrowded Europe is becoming a 'fortress' as it refuses to accept yet more workers from Africa.

I don't think so. I think it is an imperative for Africa to get its house in order and help its own people, fund its own growth, and move Africa into this century.

M. A. George:

Europe did not leave Africa "an empty bowl." the geatest destruction of African economic potential came after liberation. But saying that does not deny some responsibility for aiding these desparate peoples. But mass migration north is not the answer. How does that serve Africa?

Sophie McGlumphy:

Invest in Africa? Are you kidding me? Look what it's gotten us so far. I say, pull out altogether, unhook them from the global communications network, cut them off from international trade and let them do to each other what they have been doing since time immemorial.

pappy:

"...they robbed a whole continent of everything of value for more than eighty years before they handed over the empty bowl to Africa’s native citizens."
Oh yeah? Did those nasty Euros actually take African land and move it back to Europe? Or maybe they just took all of the infrastructure back to Europe. Were mines and farms uprooted and loaded on to ships to be relocated in Europe?
I think what the Africans lost was technologically more advanced industry and farming, in other words knowledge, when the Europeans left.

Anonymous:

Is there anything that Africans can do themselves to better their lot? Why depend on westerners to do everything? Look at China which was dirt poor only a few years ago but will become soon the second biggest economy with a foreign exchange reserve of over one trillion dollars. It has invested in primary education and primary health care since the 1950s and the results can be seen now.

Ali:

The suggestions for investing in Africa would make sense, ONCE AFRICANS deal with the pre-conditions that make investment a losing proposition. These include civil war, corruption, and political instability. Why invest when your workers may be terrorized, your property destroyed, and where you need to pay bribes or where dollar aid is diverted into the pockets of the elite.

fred:

i agree as well immigration needs to be refined and to be made accountable - there are plenty of atrocities that occur and should be stopped- if you have any immigration questions click here
