Bush Is Right This Time

Somalia/UAE - If the people of Bosnia and Rwanda could overcome their genocidal ethnic wars and forge ahead to build their future, I don't see why Iraq cannot do the same.

The entire premise for the "war" in Iraq was based on lies and arrogance. You have the playground bully (the US) and the skinny little kid (Iraq) threatening that bully with imminent invasion. The big lie put forth by the arrogant President. Of course the war failed, but only because of the arrogance displayed by Bush and his neocon buddies.

He's the president of the USA and he can damn well do anything he wants, anywhere he wants, and that includes his own country. You would have to live in a cave not to be aware of the things he and his political cohorts have done in to this country. Unfortunately the new congress doesn't have power to get rid of him, but he won't be around forever.

As far as Iraq is concerned, if we don't get out now, we'll be there 50 years from now or until their oil runs out, whichever comes first.

The world will be a safer place when ALL foreigners, especially the Americans, leave the middle east and let those people sort things out for themselves.

Of course, that will never happen. We're in the process of completing a $600 million dollar embassy and 14 permanent military bases bases in te country. No, we're not going anywhere. We're going to be there for a long, long, log time.

Bill Stephenson:

No Amount of American military or dollars will solve the problems in Iraq or any other country . As long as there is no religious tolerance,, an there is none,, an never has been,,, nor will there ever be. There will never be peace an stability in Iraq or the middle east. The Presidents effort , maybe noble failed an was destined to fail. The people have to want freedom an democracy, an not expect us or any country to give them what they aren't willing to fight for. We need to bring our soldiers home, an let them have the own boston tea party when they are ready to be a free society.

Dilip:

In MECCA all Muslims are ONE.
There is calm, peace and tranquility.
The message is BE One with ALLAH.
The only time peace with prevail in Iraq is
when the Shia and Sunni realise that they are
brothers born in the same land and are of the
same religion. But being pure mortals is any
of the above meaningfull??????

DDog:

Mr. Goth is unfortunately very wrong in his overly complicated assesment of the Bush Iraq situation. Iraq was a stable controlled country before Bush broke it up. The Iranians were no threat to Iraq with Sadam in charge. If after Bush destabilized Iraq, you suggest that the US spend billions more on top of the 400 billion already spent, this is a very flawed strategy. If the US leave Iraq, which was destabilized by invading in the first place, there will undoubtedly be a fight for power. But you yourself said as Bush did, that Bosnia and Rwanda were able to overcome such situations. As did just about every other country in the world. The only difference from Bush's perspective is that he caused the problem in the first plac. Last of all, the Bush strategy, just as it's reasoning in going in and destabilizing Iraq in the first place, does not consider enough alternatives to ground military tactical defeat of Iraqi insurgents. The US could easily project strength from the air to threaten any country in the region if our interests are threatened. To sum it up, I just don't think Bush is capable of thinking in a very smart strategic way. To continue to pour money and lives into this one country is strategically stupid.

Thom:

This is nonsense. Bush is the CAUSE of this war, not the solution. We in the reality based community have known this for some time. When Saddam was in power there was no civil war. QED.

Sarah:

Looking at the barbarism in Iraq? Excuse me, but I don't think that is our problem! The US is not and should not be the global police! I think our forces should pull out, and if the Iraqis want to kill each other, so be it. It's their prerogative. Better yet, maybe the Iraqi people will learn to stand up for themselves after all these years. But keep in mind, Mr. Goth, that the way of life in Iraq is the way of life in Iraq... not great, but their choice, and not our business.
And another thing- it is not up to the US to flood Iraq's economy from our own rather depleted coffers. Why does Mr. Goth think that is the answer? We've already tried to help the general Iraqi populace, and, well, look where that's gotten us. Nowhere, really, and American troops just keep dying.

calculatorotakuenglishfun:

I personally think that one side in the War is wrong. I think Mr.Bush should have used an alternate way in avoiding the war.
He should not have started this war in the 1st place. But I think he started this war not in the peace and democracy that mr.bush wants around the world. I personally think that he wants to start a rising economy.
Let's look back in history. For instance, in WWII, unemployment rate lowered, economy became better (Great Depression), and et cetera. In the Korean War, the Japanese had a huge boom in the economy because the Americans bought food and shelter from them. In any way, war had brought money to some people. In Mr.Bush's War, it is only for the money and economic boom.
I sometimes want to ask Mr.Bush about the killed soldier's family and a killed Iraqi citizen. I think just killing one life is too much, even if it is war. So, i strongly think that Mr.Bush should recognize that he had maken a mistake instead of making it worse. (more years of the Iraq War). I think he should immediately, change the Maliki government (he is not doing anything. he is only making iraq worser). and post a different prime minister. Or else, Iraq would be the battlefield forever.

free elections were held in Palestine with HAMAS led government is now in power and Somalia - The Ethiopian Government saved and building a regional startegic relationship with TNG; a rigged election was overturned and an honest one re-held in Kenya,Uganda, Kongo, Mouritanis; the Egyptian president pledged to hold competitive elections soon with Islamic Brotherhood, too; and a popular uprising against Israel's occupation of South Lebanon forced Israel forces to resign—all this, amid President Bush's proclamation that the main aim of American foreign policy is to advance the cause of global freedom and at least stream of wavelets.

I am heart broken....I cannot believe the death & destruction we have created. How can the people of the world ever trust or admire us again? This is a stain we will never be able to remove. I apoligize to the innocent people of Iraq & I want to help them to recover....Where do we start as an individual to give to an individual...Not through the corrupt organizations. Any suggestions? Will they ever know that there are people here who want to help.

jmichaelwalker:

I don't care what Mr. Bush SAYS. He is the same guy who was visiting VA hospitals on the same day he was slashing veteran’s benefits. It doesn't matter what he SAYS. What is he doing? So far, he has proven himself and his administration incapable of fixing Iraq. He has refused to find compromise with the rest of the international community. He is a rogue megalomaniac running around playing John Wayne. Nobody likes a bully. The neocon movement will not succeed for this reason.

I think we should begin taking responsibility for our actions. We put Saddam in place. We funded him (along with Osama) and his war chest of bio and chemical agents. We did it all. We should be apologizing to the Iraqi people for throwing them into civil war. We should be apologizing to the world and asking for forgiveness and help in getting out of this mess.

Jeanette:

Michael of Gaithersburg: It's not Bush's "gut" that is telling him what to do. And it is not his astute mind. President Bush sincerely believes God has told him what to do. How can his advisors reason with this insane belief? They cannot. As a result, we Americans will stand by as our President sends 21,500 of our sons and daughters on a crusade to their deaths.

Jesse Toler:

The sooner the U.S. gets out of Iraq, the sooner we can watch from afar as 'Muhammadism' implodes and either reforms or disappears.

Gary:

I believe that Mr. Goth is correct in his assessment that Iraq will dissolve into chaos when American troops turn tail and and run, upon the orders of their politicians. Just like we did in another distant land, in not that long ago time either. Millions were butchered after we pulled the plug. Americans don't like to talk about that "messy aftermath in Vietnam". Instead we called it "Peace with Honor". And we will leave. No doubt about it. Even if Iraq gets a fresh fusion of American blood, we will be gone.
Our politicians will cut their own nose off to spite their face. Thats why America and Iraq and the whole world for that matter will be the losers. Its not about whats right here at home anymore, its about who is in power. And if that means losing war, and deserting a cause to make the other side look bad, than so be it. The best thing that can come out of this is that no country will ever count on America as a friend.
