Pardon me, but is someone blowing smoke? I thought, allowing sales of tobacco to countries like Iran violated the U.S. anti-terrorism laws. The U.S. doesn't want Iran to get the ability to build nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. But, aren't cigarettes weapons of mass destruction. In the U.S. alone, 400,000 people die each year from tobacco related diseases, yet tobacco is still legal. We (the U.S.) are constantly warning its' citizens of possible terror attacks that could be worse than 9-11-01. But, if you break it down, about 1,095 people die EACH DAY from tobacco in the U.S.. That would be equal to, three, 747 passenger airliners, crashing EVERY DAY, with everyone on-board dieing. If three 747's starting crashing today, and every day, the nation would be outraged. Or, if a foreign nation caused that to happen, I'm sure the U.S. would nuke them out overnight. So, why do we allow this to take place?
Take a wild guess. Money talks, and everybody dies. Has a ring to it, doesn't it? Don't expect the worlds' tobacco producers to stop pushing their deadly drug (nicotine) any time soon. Many industries would be affected, i.e., fertilizer, farming, various transportation services, advertising, balance of trade between nations, medical treatment services that treat cancer, heart disease, various lung diseases, as well as the drugs used to treat these diseases, medical hardware, and of course, tax revenue.

So you see, keeping it legal, is akin to keeping it real. Yeah, like real profits, for the powers that be.

I think I'll light-up and forget about it.
Just joking. I don't smoke, and never have. That's one bullshit story I never bought.
