He is the co-author of several books on trade conflict, resolution of international trade disputes, conflicts in letters of credit, trade-related banking transactions, sovereign debt, arbitration and dispute resolutions and publications specific to the oil and gas, communication, aviation and finance sectors. Dr. Ettefagh is a member of the executive committee and the board of directors of The Development Foundation, an advisor to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, and an advisor to a number of European companies. Empower Iran, a Democratic Change Agent

Tehran -- History shows us that a continued, perhaps amplified Iranian influence in the Middle East could help bring safety and stability to the region. Western powers have tried to check Iranian influence in the Middle East, but despite such short-sighted policies, Iran has maintained its traditional significance in the region.

Be Mature: Don't Focus on Personalities

Tehran -- No. Attending the counter-summit will prove to be an immature mistake. It will lead to another episode of betting on people and single issues rather than long-term global affairs. The members of the G-8 have nominated themselves as leaders of world affairs and they must lead by example.

Keep FIFA, Bulldoze the UN?

Tehran -- Though it is difficult to envisage a FIFA-colored bulldozer forcing regime change at the UN, some parts of the organization could certainly benefit by adopting FIFA's principles, transparency and common vision, and the Beautiful Game's rules of fair play.

Holding Back in '56: A Triumph of Logic

Tehran, Iran -- In looking away from the Hungarian uprising in 1956, the United States honoured the commitment it made to the USSR at the Yalta Conference and paved the way for detente, realpolitik and periodic dialogue. In hindsight, these alternatives achieved long-term objectives, winning the peace without starting yet another war.
