The Internet as a Political Tool

Egypt has detained a number of its citizens for using the social networking site Facebook to organize anti-government protests. What online sites are most effective in influencing politics -- and is the impact positive?

mohammad allam :

In muslim world writng is another matter.let first count how many people have access to computer and then how many have ower to write. In regard to egypt the story is old.whether you write on wall of egyptian houses or net against the dictator, nothing is going to change. They are king not the ruler of a democratic country.Islamic world the writing is nothing. The real thing is movng of spirit. This is useless writing, nothing to do with real poliitcs.other hand west is reall supporter of these dictators so do not ask any qestion of political change. These are forum which providing the root to express anger but not after a limit.

agapian :

In a specific answer to the question, the worst sites on the internet that affect politics are those that express unsubstantiated values of one person with an anti-government agenda. Propaganda is propaganda, whether government or individual, and is simply a huge waste of time, including the author's. Authors who detail injustice by others clearly serve their society well; criminal aggression cannot stand the light of day, let alone the light of human spirit. Do governments like Egypt's suppress anti-government activists or professional anachists that wouldn't be satisfied by any government?

Anju Chandel :

Going by the reaction of Egypt and a few other governments, Blogs and social networking sites sure seem to be having politics-influencing potential. Now, if 'that' impact could be positive or negative is a separate topic altogether and needs to be debated separately.

There is only one religion, if one goes by the definition of what Religion means. No prizes for guessing the obvious. The rest are merely cults which like to pretend they are religions. Infact most Muslims practices what is taught. They have been ordered to do everything in reverse so they stand out and thus can claim it is way of life as Sanatana Dharma. Thus if you write left to write they do it right to left. If Hindus do pradakshina (Clockwise) circumambulation of their deities, the Muslims do it counter clockwise in the ancient Kaabha Temple. If Hindus wrap the upper cloth on the left shoulder the momins wear it on the right when they go on Haj. Thus it is ingrained in a Muslim to talk/do opposite of what is done generally (speaking the mind).

Thus if one claims "Islam is a Religion of Peace and calm. Islam does not teach one to take revenge, but to spread the word of Peace, happiness and equality. Islam means to prostrate before God. The Five Pillars of Islam strengthens a Muslim day by day, hour after hour. Reminds a Muslim that there is only one God and that Prophet Mohammed is the messenger of God." what he actually means is:

“Islam is a cult of war and disquiet. Islam teaches one only to take revenge (jehad) and spread war, misery and inequality (to kufrs). Islam means not to prostrate before God (but his self appointed rep). The five pillars of Islam (quran ,hadith, sword, lust and ignorance) maddens a Muslim day by day, hour after hour. Reminds a Muslim that there is only Mohd’s word for it.

generalizations suck :

Venkat, as in the case of ALL religions, Muslims don't practice what they preach. and pray tell, what is the good religion?????

To understand why, let's examine what drives the Islamic mind for censorship. I quote the former Pakistani apostate Anwar Shaikh from "THUS SPAKE ANWAR SHAIKH"

The facts throughout Islamic history demonstrate that Muslims are the special people of Allah who has bestowed this distinction on them for hating, hounding and hanging the non-Muslims. The Koran clearly states (in I.VIII, The Disputer: 20) that the Muslims are Allah’s Party and the non-Muslims are Satan’s Party. It is for this reason that the Koran has declared:

1. Allah is an enemy to unbelievers. (II, The Cow: 90)

2. The worst of beasts in Allah’s sight are the ungrateful who will not believe. (VIII, Spoils of War: 55)

3. Unbelievers are the enemies of Allah and they will roast in hell. (Fusilat: 19)

4. Oh ye who believe! The non-Muslims are unclean. (IX, Repentance: 27)

5. Oh ye who believe! Fight the disbelievers…and let them find harshness in you. (IX, Repentance: 125)

6. Oh believers, do not treat your fathers and mothers as your friends, they are evil-doers. (IX, Repentance: 20)

7. Humiliate the non-Muslims to such an extent that they surrender and pay tribute. (IX, Repentance: 29)

8. Muslims are hard against unbelievers, merciful to one another. (XL VIII, Victory: 25)

If this is what is taught by the prophet what else do you expect of his subjects all of whom feel that their WORD is final and hence the tradition Islamic intolerance.
