Ahmadiyya Muslim leader: 'Islam condemns terrorism'
Transcript of comments made today at the National Press Club by Naseem Mahdi, national vice president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the U.S.:
"We live in an expanding universe but the world is shrinking daily and it is so highly important for us all to discover and follow the paths that lead to peace.
"I am going to make a few brief comments prompted by the recent attempted bombing in New York, but necessitated by much broader considerations.
"Islam condemns terrorism unreservedly and totally.
"The Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India, had declared over 120 years ago that there is no place or justification found in Islam for violence whatsoever.
"He said that Islam requires all Muslims to live in peace and harmony wherever they may be.
"It is thus the duty and responsibility of all Muslims living in the U.S. to be loyal to the flag and to be law-abiding citizens.
"It is clear from the events happening all around that a small, fanatic, extremist minority of Muslims has hijacked the faith and continues to mislead and misguide the Muslims and ruin their total life.
"In my considered opinion, such fanatics present a distorted view of Islam based on false and misguided interpretations.
"For example such people say that it is not necessary for a Muslim to follow any non-Islamic government...This is utterly false..
"If the vast majority of reasonable, peace-loving and law-abiding population of Muslims living in the US do not speak out and speak out loudly this will continue and ultimately ruin the lives, economic and social, of all Muslims and the community at large.
"I am calling today on ALL MUSLIMS IN THE U.S. to join me in condemning all actions of violence and terror caused or carried out by anyone whoever he or she may be.
"I call on all of them to boldly claim and express with their tongue and action that they are loyal and law-abiding and obedient citizens of the United States of America.
"This is fully in accord with the teachings of Muhammad, peace be on him, the Holy Founder of Islam, who said that hubbul watanay minal eeman..
"Love of one's homeland, one's place of residence, is a part of the Muslim's faith..
"It is high time that Muslims living in the U.S. wake up to their responsibilities and declare openly and repeatedly and loudly that they stand for peace and loyalty and are proud of it and that this is in fact what Islam itself requires of them.
"Let me end by being totally forthright.
"I say to those among Muslims living in the U.S. who are not loyal or who do not want to be loyal that they are benefiting and enjoying all that this open, free, country has to offer and yet they say that their loyalties are to another country or government.
"I want to say to such people that they are not only living a false and hypocritical life but that they are thus also ungrateful and my advice to them is to be bold and leave and go and live in the lands where their loyalties belong."

This guy is spouting religiously sanctioned deception called 'taqiyya'. mohammed said to use deception if it advanced islam. And muslims follow their 'perfect man'.
And he is also going against the koran and sharia laws based on the koran and sunnah (hadith and sira). So, this guy is just giving what I call 'lip service' to people to lull them into complacency.
If one looks further into Sharia laws you will find that not only is religous deception a good and holy thing, but so is Jihad. The first line of jihad says (o9 of Sharia laws) '...to war against the non-muslim...'. And if one does not 'take up the sword' (so to speak) then they support the violent Jihadists via their zakat, or what we call muslim charity.
We need to start becoming aware of islam. It is not peaceful, nor benign. Its goals is to either kill or subjugate us if we reject becoming muslims. That has been what has been motivating their continual war (that ebbs and flows) for 1400 years. 97% of the time that Jihad is talked about in their texts - it is about violence against the non-muslim. And the ultimate thing for a muslim to do is die while killing non-muslims. They believe they go straight to their heaven and bypass hell. They can name 70 other individuals to go with them and that is why the whole community celebrates.

It is really funny to see the first two posters here angrily declaring they know what Muslims believe in better than Muslims themselves, and copy pasting stuff off the internet, when the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has for the last 120 years actually demonstrated that they are the only truly peaceful community of Muslims in the world. In fact, they are actually persecuted by other Muslims for their beliefs.
Have you guys ever met an Ahmadi Muslim before? Do you know any Ahmadi Muslims?
Better yet, instead of spouting conspiracy theories about taqqiya, why not investigate the ahmadiyya community, go to one of their mosques (yes, ahmadiyya mosques all around the world are open to the public and regularly hold interfaith programs with people of other faiths, including Jews, christians, hindus, sikhs, and others), and see for yourself that this is not "paying lip service."
as a member of this community all my life i can tell you that what mr. mahdi is saying is actually what we are taught from a very young age. if you find that cynical, again i welcome you to go to your local ahmadiyya mosque and see for yourself that there are indeed peaceful muslims out there.
peace be with you.

The first poster uses cut-and-paste quotes out of context. Who were those Jews Muhammad wanted to expel? The ones who treacherously broke their treaty and colaborated in a war of extermination against the peaceful Muslim community.
The second poster invokes taqiyya, the cop out excuse of Islamophobes to dismiss anything true or good a Muslim might say. In the world of this loony conspiracy, Muslim preaching about peace is really an attempt to undermine white, Christian civilization.
The third poster slanders all non-Ahmadiyyah Muslims by claiming Ahmadiya alone is the only peaceful Muslim group. Hundreds of millions of Muslims, the vast majority, reject terrorism as proven by Gallup scientific polls. Such a false claim smacks of partisan bigotry and is no different than Wahhabi extremism or any other sect that claims to be the "true" Muslim sect. The truth is that no sect has the Absolute Truth in every matter.
Islam promotes pluralsim and tolerance. "Hilm" (forbearance, tolerance) is a virtue in the Quran: "Most surely Abraham was forbearing, tender-hearted, repentant." (11:75) The media and punditry chose to ignore the moderate Muslim majority and instead pander to Islamophobic prejudice, just like Anderson Cooper giving Ayan Hirsi a free pass to spew crude stereotypes against the Muslim communities unchallenged. And don't get me started about Fox News. Their Islamophobia is well documented (see Media Matters, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting).

I want to thank On Faith for posting Mr. Mahdi's expression of how the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community rejects any notion of terrorism in the name of Islam. I know that there are many other Muslims who also condemn terrorism but to my knowledge the Ahmadis are the only community of Muslims who collectively (across the board) condemn all forms of terrorism. The community's leader, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, repeatedly reminds the members that terrorism has nothing to do with Islam. I haven't heard a unified voice from other Muslims from all over the world.

The "Gotcha" here is that although the writer crows about condemning terrorism, he is silent about Jihad. What we call "terrorism" is a misnomer: the proper term is "Jihad with the sword", only one of the four ways in which Jihad is conducted. The other three are the mouth and pen (which the above article constitutes) and the money (the Shari'ah compliant finance).
There is also the concept of "Taqiyya", which is "sacred deception to further Isalm", provided for in Islamic Law. Thus, although the author may look you straight in the eye as he asserts what he does, you cannot trust what he says to be the truth. This is why all westerners need to learn Islamic Doctrine for themselves: they cannot depend on the Muslims to level with them, especially about the more vicious Suras, such as Q9:5, Q9:29, etc.

Holy Quran ch2:v57/56 reads "There is no compulsion in religion."
Ch22:v40/39 "Permission to fight is given to those against whom war is made."
Ch22:v40/40 "if Allah did not repel some men by means of others, there would surely have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is oft commemorated"
Jihad of the sword is only allowed in Islam when the enemy strikes first and it is also to be made to save churches and synagogues from being destroyed!
The reason there are so many verses against the infidels is because not only did they brutally persecute and drive out a peaceful people from their hometown, but they followed them to their new residence and waged battle after battle against them.
When the Muslims were finally strong enough to attack, they marched 1000 strong to Makkah, where they were persecuted, where their friends and family had been brutally killed, and from where army after army had been dispatched to kill them...they found the enemy dumbfounded, unable to put up any fight, and guess what, there was a general amnesty announced...a pardon for all, but a handful of criminals. History of this planet has never seen such a grand display of forgiveness. This event took place after all those verses quoted by the first poster had been revealed. In fact almost the entire, if not all,of the Quran had been revealed.
People of all religions lived among the Muslims peacefully. Some tribes of the Jews actively and admittedly conspired to allow the enemy to pass through undetected to massacre the Muslims by surprise. There were other conspiracies hatched by some others, against which Muslims were warned, who regarded the Jews and Christians as People of the Book according to the Quran. And about whom Quran says (ch2:v62/61) that they will also go to heaven depending on their faith and their works.
That "taqiyya" business is that first I've heard of this term or concept. Regarding justice and truth the Holy Quran (ch5:v2,3) says " And let not the enmity of a people, that they hindered you from the Sacred Mosque, incite you to transgress."
This is what we learn from the Holy Quran and Islam's Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and this is what Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad came to re-teach 150 years ago...and this is what we've been taught from birth.

Corrections to my early comment:
When Muslims marched back to Makkah, they were 10,000 men, not 1000.
Also, we are taught that a war can only be called Jihad if the enemy fights to suppress one's right to practice one's faith. Fighting a political enemy would not classify as Jihad, even though it may be an otherwise justified political war.

More lies from a Muslim. The Islamic scriptures condone terrorism. As for the comment from the Muslim, Muslims are trying to replace Western Civilization with Islamic Law. Islam calls for the dominance of non-Muslims, that is not tolernance. All pros-Sharia Muslims should be looked upon as enemies of the state. Just as Nazis were.
Here are more Islamic lies, exposed.

To Everyonerelax,
This community is meaningless, and will not change the threat of Islam.
Qudsia00,
Not allowing Sharia Law, is "oppressing" Muslims. That is enough for war. The Koran also states that Muslims should terrorize those that contend against Islam. That can be something as simple as speaking out against us. So take the smokescreen somewhere else.

The Islamophobes on this page are so certain they know more about Islam than thousands and thousands of Muslim and non-Muslim scholars. "Liberalism" needed a new enemy after the cold war; that is why they define Islam as everything opposite Liberalism, although this is patently false. This is pure demonization and is tantamount to racism; it is simply a continuation of the Western tradition of cultural supremacism and colonialism.
Again, this whole business of "taqiyya" is a cop out, a convenient way to write off any Muslim. Taqiyya (which means protection) is only allowed when Muslims are being tortured (like they are in Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, and other black sites), that they can pretend to renounce their faith if it saves them from torture. Islamophobes cry taqiyya because they cannot answer real experts who debunk their wacko conspiracies of "stealth jihad" and such.
Finally, I am disappointed by this Ahmadiyyah post. Condemning terrorism is right, supporting loyalty to country is right, but being silent about state terrorism is self-righteous hypocrisy. The Ahmadiyyah movement is supported by neo-colonialists who want to change Islam into a doctrine that is passive in the face of state oppression. Ahmadiyyah do not represent the feelings and concerns of the majority of Muslims. Rather, Muslims view them as a cult.

The Jewish scriptures, which are also accepted by Christians as holy and God's word, condone terrorism just as much as the Koran does. For each Koranic verse about slaughter you quote, you can find its counterpart in the Old Testament.

Lots of aggressive comments are being written against a peaceful religion. In my opinion the fundamentals of religions are the same. It is these extremists who later become terrorists either Christian terrorists or Muslim terrorists if we respect each others views then we do not have to fight rather debate on conflicting matters. I am really encouraged and I think for us living in the US be thankful to Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at least despite being persecuted all over the world they have lead all religions from the front. We should appreciate the comments made by Mr. Naseem Mahdi and collectively work together for a peaceful and living conditions in this country. Mr. Mahdi was the one who defended civil liberties that we or our forefathers faught hard to obtain during 1700s when USA came into being and then these liberties were refreshed during 1960s movements. I think we should appreciate that an immigrant from different country is fighting for our civil liberties that we lost after 9/11 2001.

First of all, it is interesting to note how quickly the hate-mongers come out of the alleyways every time someone says something that the anti-Islam hate-mongers fear will help the image of Islam. That seems to be the case in the first few post in response to this article. This is very sad.
Now about the points made by Mr. Naseem Mahdi in his press conference, perhaps the time has come that we stop listening to the Sunni, Wahabi or any other version that have come to be known is extremism and "orthodoxy", and start paying attention to what the Ahmadiyya Islam has to offer. I believe we will do ourselves and everyone else some serious good in terms of promoting harmony.
Now to those who immediately came out of the woodworks to downplay and degrade what Mr. Mahdi have to say: Listen up! If you want to bash Islam and continue to perpetuate hate and animosity, you are on the wrong track and no different from the very extremists we are talking about getting rid of here.
On the other hand, however, if you want to help promote peace, and help free the Muslims enslaved by terrorists and extremists, perhaps you can help move Mr. Mahdi's stance forward.
Let us know if you are an Islam basher or a peace promoter.

No one mentioned the barbaric slaughter of all the adult male Quarayza Jews documented in Quoran, the slaughter of children in front of mothers, selling of people into slavery.

This is why this sect is considered as a heretic cult by almost all the other Muslim denominations. They refute the Ahmaddiah claims by quoting directly from the Quran.

There is no such thing as an Orthodox Muslim. If you are Jewish or Christian and trying to apply your terminology to Islam, it does not work. The bomber was a hypocrite. His religion calls for peace, but his actions do not.
Naseem Mahdi points out that hypocrisy is not acceptable. You would think that peace-loving Christians, Jews, Hindus and all people of other religions would be over joyed to hear this message. Indeed, so many times in the past, I have been asked, "where are the spokespersons for peace, if this is what Islam believes in?"
Here he is! So why jeer at him? His words assure you that you can expect nothing but peace from all Ahmadi-Muslims living in the United States.
You can even say: If you are an Ahmadi-Muslim, your creed is loyalty to your country.
Only hate-mongers jeer at peaceful proclamations.

Are you ready?
Using "The 77 Branches of Islamic "faith" a collection compiled by Imam Bayhaqi as a starting point. In it, he explains the essential virtues that reflect true "faith" (iman) through related Qur’anic verses and Prophetic sayings." i.e. a nice summary of the Koran and Islamic beliefs.
"1. Belief in Allah"
aka as God, Yahweh, Zeus, Jehovah, Mother Nature, etc." should be added to your cleansing neurons.
"2. To believe that everything other than Allah was non-existent. Thereafter, Allah Most High created these things and subsequently they came into existence."
Evolution and the Big Bang or the "Gib Gnab" (when the universe starts to recycle) are more plausible and the "akas" for Allah should be included if you continue to be a "creationist".
"3. To believe in the existence of angels."
A major item for neuron cleansing. Angels/devils are the mythical creations of ancient civilizations, e.g. Hittites, to explain/define natural events, contacts with their gods, big birds, sudden winds, protectors during the dark nights, etc. No angelic thingies ever visited or talked to Mohammed, Jesus, Mary or Joseph or Joe Smith. Today we would classify angels as fairies and "tinker bells".
Modern devils are classified as the demons of the demented.
"4. To believe that all the heavenly books that were sent to the different prophets are true. However, apart from the Quran, all other books are not valid anymore."
Another major item to delete. There are no books written in the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one) just as there are no angels to write/publish/distribute them. The Koran, OT, NT etc. are simply books written by humans for humans.
Prophets were invented by ancient scribes typically to keep the uneducated masses in line. Today we call them fortune tellers.
Prophecies are also invalidated by the natural/God/Allah gifts of Free Will and Future.
"5. To believe that all the prophets are true. However, we are commanded to follow the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) alone."
Mohammed spent thirty days fasting in a hot cave before his first contact with Allah aka God etc. via a "angelic" Gabriel. Common sense demands a neuron deletion of #5. #5 is also the major source of Islamic violence i.e. turning Mohammed's "fast, hunger-driven" hallucinations into horrible reality for unbelievers.
Accept these five "cleansers" and we guarantee a complete recovery from your Islamic ways!!!!

Islam is dysfunctional in a twenty-first century world civilization. Does that make me Islamaphobic?
I am not sure what the idealized and perfect Islam would be like, but in the practical and real world, it is anti-Jewish, anti-gay, anti-sex, anti-woman, anti-Christian, anti-European, anti-modern, anti-Hindu, anti-liberal, anti-democracy, anti-capitalist, anti-socialist; all that constitutes the modern world of today is seen by Islam as some sort of wick apostasy, to be stamped out; what will be left? repressed old men, with their beards, colorless, humorless, with hands that can never be washed clean?

Peace to all!
Mr. Mahdi’s words are important for citizens of all nations worldwide to understand. He emphasizes the Muslim’s duty to be a loyal citizen of whichever country he/she resides in. It is unfortunate that some readers exhibit a knee-jerk reaction of cynical disbelief at words promoting peace whenever those words come from a Muslim scholar.
I can vouch for the authenticity of the Islamic nature displayed by individuals of the Ahmadi persuasion. Their uniqueness as Muslims is simply this: they accept Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as the last law-bearing prophet and their exemplar, and believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) is the messiah of the Latter Days.
Those desiring evidence of the genuinely peaceful life choices made by Ahmadis need only to visit the nearest Ahmadi mosque and mingle with the people there. Also, references from the Quran mandating a tranquil lifestyle for all followers can be quickly found on their highly-informative website (alislam.org).
(Note: I can’t figure out the “Vol. 9:5", etc., references that one critical writer makes. What book is that writer quoting? It can’t be the Quran, for sure! Do read Quran 2:257!)
Peace to all seekers of knowledge!

Kudos to Mr. Mahdi for his bold, forthright stand. In my lifetime I have never heard a Muslim leader in the United States before Mr. Mahdi stand up and say in essence : “Enough! Those who would do their country harm do not deserve to be called Muslims. Be loyal to this land, serve it to the best of your ability, but if you cannot, chew on this: America! Love it or leave it. ” To the Doubting Toms and the Muslim bashers out there, I suggest they adopt the pragmatic approach of the New York Post in reporting Mr. Mahdi’s stance “ US Muslims finally take right stand!” ( New York Post, Wednesday, May 5, 2010, www.nypost.com) I urge all Jews, Gentiles and others in this great land of ours to seize Mr. Mahdi’s historic pronouncement to join with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA in building an interfaith coalition against fanaticism, terrorism and bigotry. This Muslim community lives by its credo “Love for all, hatred for none”.

The point is he is condemning these acts. I can't see what more people want. Whether this is 'propaganda' or some trick to lure Americans in or whatever, just look at it. He's condemning a failed attack, which means he doesn't support it. As well, Sharia Law practiced in many countries in the Middle East is not Muslim law, its twisted logic that kills women, children, and supports the gaining of power.

None of the religions in the history of mankind have come to destroy peace and spread cruelty and suffering. There always have been two purposes of any religion and prophet. 1- connection with God and 2- welfare of humans. The beautiful picture of Islam that we know, many people are unaware of that.Today, the image of Islam that so called Muslim scholars present and many ignorant people have painted themselves in their shades, are associating their evil acts of terrorism to the name of Islam. Seeing all this causes a lot of pain to our hearts, however our beloved master Muhammad may peace be on him, had foretold this fifteen hundred years ago. He said that there will be a time on my people when they will turn to their scholars for guidance, and will find them worse than monkeys and pigs. Scholars of that time will be the worst creature on Earth. That will be the time of divine guidance for the revival of faith.
So all the people! When you look around, don't you see the reality? Aren't the Muslim mullas worst creature on the surface of Earth? So at this time how could our God forget about his promise to send the Massiah to save the people? Today it's only Ahmadiyya Muslim community who recognizes the Promised Massiah and beleives in him. Only Ahmadiyya Muslim community represents the true picture of Islam which the holy founder of this great religion portrayed for us.

Even if this is "pure deceitful pro-Moslem propaganda" - bring it on!. We need more.
Those who say Islam preaches violence and terrorism are really agreeing with the muslim terrorists and helping them recruit. If the objective is to live free and in peace, the pragmatic thing to do is to help the moderates win over the muslim masses with their message of peace even if one believes otherwise. If he says "Peace", we should say "Sure..!".
What can we expect to gain by trying to convince muslims that their religion preaches violence?

"Islam condemns terrorism unreservedly and totally."
"...there is no place or justification found in Islam for violence whatsoever."
"He said that Islam requires all Muslims to live in peace and harmony wherever they may be."
This is pure deceitful pro-Moslem propaganda. Here is what Islam really says about terrorism and peace and tolerance:
FROM THE KORAN:
--“ the (only) religion (acceptable) before God is Islam." (3:19)
-- " If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, never will it be accepted of him." (3: 85)
-- “You are the noblest community ever raised up for mankind.” (3:110)
-- The unbelievers among the people of the book and the pagans shall burn forever in the fire of Hell. They are the vilest of all creatures. (98.6).
-- Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve. (8.55)
--The unbelievers are your inveterate enemy. (4:101)
-- Mohammed is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another. (48:29).
-- It is unlawful for a believer to kill another believer, accidents excepted. (4:92)
-- Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. (5:51)
-- Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme. (8:40)
-- Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme. (2:193)
-- The true believers fight for the cause of God, but the infidels fight for the devil. (4:76)
-- We will put terror into the hearts of the unbelievers. (3:151)
-- I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers. (8:12)
FROM THE SAYINGS OF MUHAMMAD:
-- Muhammad said to the Jews: "If you embrace Islam, you will be safe. You should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle, and I want to expel you from this land. “
-- Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.' "
