John McCain should immediately renounce Rod Parsley not only for his astounding hate mongering against Islam, but also for his extreme views on a range of issues including his denunciation of separation of church and state.

This commentary from a French journalist that speculates about John McCain taking lessons from the Nicolas Sarkosy campaign seems relevant-- Sarkosy played a game of running against French Arabs/Muslims while tiptoeing around overtly racist rhetoric. McCain seems to be playing the same Islamophobic strategy.

it came to me when He said "El Kaide is in Iraq", this was driving my attention for a few days, the first time was from Williams Bush. they all play baseball. Dick Cheney was also a speaker but we couldnt get up when He woke us up.

the reason why USA Government verbalize (El Kaide is in Iraq) and (there are nuclear weapons in Iraq) is in the language.
in the education centers, especially those in Uzbekistan Azerbeycan Turkmenistan, Buhara and Semerkand, were there science, philosophy, linguistics, astronomy, anthropology, psychology.
one of those who had been in Ozbekistan and Buhara is today in Bursa, grandson of Ahmet prophet, Emirsultan, He is resident in a church.

the reason why El Kaide is in Iraq and there are nuclear weapons in Iraq is in the language. "el kaide" is "nizamiye" too, university of Selcuks and Sunni Islam that have come up to date and those who made war against other prophets.
there are a few more in Iran too, one of them is in Semerkand and also one in Buhara. these are the nuclear weapons for they radiate to others in the education centers to other pupils.
1. in Iraq Baghdad there was a university in 1000 AC,
2. there was education in Baghdad that affected the next 1000 years to 2000 AC.

The term "United Nations" was decided by Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill during World War II, to refer to the Allies. Its first formal use was in the 1 January 1942 Declaration by the United Nations, which committed the Allies to the principles of the Atlantic Charter and pledged them not to seek a separate peace with the Axis powers. Thereafter, the Allies used the term "United Nations Fighting Forces" to refer to their alliance.

this reminds me the poem to Recep TAyyip Erdogan, a man had appeared and wanted to pay for the poem but i had thanked for the poem. the voice was like someone who had just resurrected in soul, after a long spell or consciousness, a person who had realized that he was not dead but had left body and has been bodyless but present.
Erdal Inonu, son of Ismet Inonu with Churchill, had come after he had left, and had told me that all was as he had realized and predicted. life goes on, bodyless and as it is in quantum physics. the other night came too. then he left. Robin Williams What Dreams Come True is a reference here.

how is there a song as "Killing me softly with his words"? when you kill a horse, you can put a seat onto him to ride. when you kill onion, you have a sweet salad.

Just a reminder. The supernatural being in the burning bush, the one Moses made the deal with is the biggest devil of them all, Lucifer by name. Of course you know that now so your soul is now headed to hell. Lucifer is the father of Jesus you know.
Lucifer just loves it when two or more gather in the name of Jesus and cause trouble with others of great faith like Muslims. That explains all the chaos surrounding faith.
Lucifer simply loves killings and all the other things religion inspires like 9-11 and more recently uncovered Mormon polygamy camps. Camps? Settlements of some kind like the Puritans aren't they? And they say we have religious freedom.
Where would the world be without faith? The US government is terrified that the three great faiths might disintegrate.
Disintegrate - turn material objects into cosmic dust, what happens to folks at ground zero.

We should just dispense with religion altogether and ask a simple question instead. Who will be better for our general well being as a nation - McCain or Obama??
Well, we know that if you liked George W. Bush, you're going to love John McCain, since there's not an ounce of difference between the two. If you love the war in Iraq, you're going to love John McCain, because he's selling the surge on every street corner, and for the next generation to come.
If you like what Bush and Bush Senior before him have done to the national debt and our current economy, you're going to love John McCain, because he wouldn't have it any other way. It's all going for a good cause - the war in Iraq.
As for Obama, just say 'NO' to all of the above.
That should help put things in a better perspective.

Again there is a heck of a difference between sharing a dais with someone you scarcely even know and sitting in a Pastor's pew for 20 years.
There is no reason to believe the McCain and Parsley are attached at the hip or that Parsley will have anything whatever to do with shaping McCain's foreign policy. Don't you think that church and state were united in an unbreakable hold 9-11-2001, like two gun fighter of old west folklore. They remain joined until one or the other dies. Care must be taken else both will fire at the same time and both die.
Mr Bush sees, at least saw the holy war declared by Islam as a crusade so he set about the task of making himself into King Arthur, kinda stumbly bumbly. The real question is does McCain see it that way too.
The D's are hell bent to wait for the next 9-11 and then do who knows what. The economy is threatening to collapse so they will likely win the majority in congress and the white house too. Take heart. No Republican administration has ever won a war except the Civil War when we fought ourselves, and nearly lost. Maybe the D's will think of something. McCain needs help from anywhere he can get it to win, just like Bush.
WW2 was decided by two things, oil and information. That makes the fight with Islam kinda even except Islam can gain an easy upper hand with better intel on their side.
We are at war with Islam like it or not. Will oil and information decide the outcome? Some truths are too unbearable to be heard. That wouldn't be the kind of information that determines if America becomes an Islamic state or not would it to say nothing of the biggest question, will America survive?
Think of it this way. The day Hitler killed himself there were still people looking for promotions in his government. Let's hope that's not the situation right now. Are we electing a new president for our old bankrupt corporation? Things have become real "sub prime" here lately. Any Islamic help doing that or have we become so righteous we don't need any help?

I think it's less important to me that Parsley's views run contrary to the Constitution--I follow Christ before any political leader--than that it runs completely contrary to the Gospel. The Gospel isn't about an authority that comes from controlling people. It's about an authority that comes from serving others. The Kingdom of God isn't about a top-down government, it's a reality in which "whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave." It's about service and self sacrifice. It's about a love that is not self-serving. I haven't read anything by Parsley (because most of the propaganda that comes from the politicized Christian Right makes me nauseous) but if this is an accurate representation, I think he'd do well to remain silent and seek council from one of your WP's other bloggers, N.T. Wright.
P.S. It's sad to see so many responses that stray from the actual content of the post. This isn't a post on apologetics.

Isaac Asimov;
Religions may have been actively involved in the easing of the human condition, but I am more aware of conversion by the sword (the first case being that of the Edomites by the Jews in Maccabean times) and of burning at the stake and of Inquisitorial suppression of dissent. The benefits are a matter of theory; the harm is clear and present.
I am prejudiced against religion because I know the history of religion, and it is the history of human misery and of black crimes.
I have written on religion and science and have never made any secret of the fact that I am an atheist. My feeling is, quite simply, that if there is a God, he has done such a bad job that He isn't worth discussing.

Man does not have the capacity to prove the existence of God, much less that a God was the active inspiration of any religion.
Since all we know is filtered through man’s imperfection, apparent errors and inconsistencies in the Bible and other fundamental religious documents are not proof of the non-existence of God, but only of the imperfection of man.
The first point reduces to zero our knowledge of whether there is a God and any claim that religious works are divinely inspired.
The second point adds nothing to the discussion.
The question of whether or not there is a superior being that created us and the universe is clearly appears to have arisen in every culture. It is our link to possible immortality and, for some, a basis for accepting and following a moral code.
We cannot “know” there is a God, but can only believe there is a God, based upon the beliefs others urge upon us, often influenced by our own speculations and hopes.
Practically everything humans do is based upon probability. I would like to see anyone tackle the probability issues surrounding the existence and nature of God and man’s relation to God. For example:
A. What possible reason (or justice or fairness) can there by for a perfect and loving God to play hide and seek with humanity? It is predictable, even to an imperfect human mind, that large numbers of people would go looking in the wrong places. Why would not a God, of the type advanced in most of the major religions, simply address us each, personally, tell us the major moral truths, and judge us based upon whether we follow what we would thus know rather than on our imperfect speculation?
B. Fear and suffering have been a major experience in human life. Is there any conceivable basis upon which an perfect and loving God would subject us to that? If there is a God, does not such suffering and fear indicate that he is not quite the perfect and loving figure that the preachers of faith would have us believe? Some would say that this is the result of the Original Sin of Adam and Eve. Does it make any sense that God would inflict such a curse upon us, who had nothing to do Original Sin? What about the obvious inequality of pain and suffering across the human race? Is that consistent with our image of God? Then, of course there is a major factor seldom mentioned: Animals, of every description, experience much the same pain and suffering that we experience — and probably worse. What could the reason for that be? Does that tend to show that we and animals are simply subjected to a world of chance in which suffering is more or less random?
C. In the debates upon the existence and nature of God, what is the practical difference in the moral imperatives between those who come down on one side or another. The God team seems to think that a failure to believe in God means that morality goes out the window or would at least be very different. Is that true, based upon experience or logic?

"Protestant."
"Me too," crows the first man.
And so the questioning continues, until the two men discover
they are both not only Baptists, but Northern, Conservative,
Fundamentalist Baptists of the the Great Lakes Region.
When the first man finally inquires, "Council of 1879 or Council of 1912?
the reply is "1912."
So he cries "Die Heretic!"
That's religion!!

What an incredibly naive and arrogant post. You have slandered a dedicated servant of God who has not said anything remotely resembling what you claim he has said regarding Islam.
In "Silent No More," which contains possibly the definitive chapter-length description of Islam's tenets in the market today, Rev. Parsley calls for the confrontation of Islam and notes that this nation was founded, in part, on the notion that Islam should be destroyed. The latter point is inarguable to any informed student of American history.
Rev. Parsley also opposes same-sex marriage - as does nearly 70 percent of the populace. He is hardly an anti-gay bigot as you claim.
You owe the man an apology, not an ill-considered harrangue.

To GaryD:
You asked, "Should Obama be required to renounce every hater at the Daily Kos or Huffington Post?"
Last time I checked, "every hater at the Daily Kos or Huffington Post" doesn't have thousands of people hanging on his every word or an organization that he can send out to accomplish a political agenda.
I don't think Senator McCain should be required to denounce anyone. But I am happy that I know who Senator McCain is in bed with (politically, that is :).

I'm sure it'll be seen as a historical irony, one day, but, speaking of the American religious fanatics called 'The base,'
Yaknow what 'Al Qaeda' means in Arabic?
'The base.'
Gods, that creeps me out. :)

TO SUSAN BROOKS THISTLETHWAITE:
First off, I never even heard of Rod Parsley until these postings but I would like to comment on what Chris Hedges describes as "Christian dominion".
He wrote, where “the 10 Commandments form the basis of our legal system, creationism and ‘Christian values’ form the basis of our eductional system, and the media and the government proclaim the Good News to one and all. Labor unions, civil-rights laws and public schools will be abolished. Women will be removed from the workforce to stay home, and all those deemed insufficiently Christian will be denied citizenship.”
Except for, "Proclaiming the Good News to one and all", I think that Jesus would throw up over this.
And as for "Proclaiming the Good News", there are many so-called "Christians" that don't have a clue what the "GOOD NEWS" even is.
The Good News is that God has a Plan and has had His Plan since before creation and that His Plan is for ALL OF HUMANITY to be with Him in the Kingdom [the new heavens and the new earth].
He also wrote, "It is shocking enough that there are American citizens who hold these views. But it must be said, in no uncertain terms, that this is a vision of a repressive, theocratic society so at odds with the American Constitution".
It is not only at odds with the American Constitution but it is also at odds with what Jesus taught.
Jesus forced Himself on no one and He did not ask anyone else to force themselves or Him or the bible on anyone, quite to the contrary, He invited people to "Come follow Me".
The True, Living, Triune, Triumphant God is a searcher of hearts and minds, not of religious affiliations or lack thereof and He also doesn't look at whatever label someone puts on themself.
Calling yourself a "christian" and being a "christian" is not necessarily the same thing especially since some "christians" don't have a clue what being a "christian" is.
It is important what you do and why you do it and what you know.
Christianity is part of God's Plan and His Plan is unfolding before our very eyes and God's Plan will come to Fruition.
Take care, be ready, see you and the rest of humanity in the Kingdom [the new heavens and the new earth].
Sincerely, Thomas Paul Moses Baum.

Should Obama be required to renounce every hater at the Daily Kos or Huffington Post? McCain is no more joined at the hip to Parsley than Obama is to those nuts.
