The duty to be a peacemaker ended up being the reason I left the Lutheran Church and joined the United Church of Christ at age 18.

To TPB: As it says: "I will send the simple to confound the wise". And it is as simple as God wins, satan loses, a tie is unacceptable, the mysterious plan of God is referred to in the book of revelation. Another thing that Jesus said in response to the question, "Who can be saved?", "With man it is impossible, but with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE", God's Plan is God's Plan and the seventh day will get here, of course the night of the sixth day will come also as it is written: "Night is coming when no man can work" "Be Ready". Take care. Sincerely, Thomas Paul Moses Baum. PS As far as posting the same thing on other sites, just trying to do the job that God gave me.

The passage in scripture that is referred to as The Lord's Prayer and also the Our Father: Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven, give us this day our daily Bread, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. OUR FATHER, as in the Father of the entire human race considering that not only did He create everyone but also everything. WHO ART IN HEAVEN, not only is He in Heaven but He is also putting the finishing touches on the Heavenly Jerusalem not to be confused with the New Jerusalem which is going to go down the tubes just like the Old Jerusalem only more so. HALLOWED BE THY NAME, actually God is Pure Love but from so many of the posts that call themselves christians, you would never know. THY KINGDOM COME, God's Kingdom which will be a Kingdom of Pure Love and it is for all of His children which is ALL OF HUMANITY. THY WILL BE DONE, Like it says in many places in the bible, it is God's Will that ALL BE SAVED, also if all that someone calling themself a christian, cares about is going to the "good place" , how christian is that, considering that on the cross Jesus said, "Father forgive them", there is not an asterick after them, them means ALL OF HUMANITY, we have all done wrong at least I have. ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN, as it says even the forces of evil, satan and his cohorts, are working toward the Will of God even if inadvertantly, besides being a liar and a thief, the deceiver is also a loser. GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD, this refers not only to that which sustains us physically but also the Eucharist which is the BREAD OF LIFE. FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US, this is a divine equation, pure and simple, Jesus told us as much. AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, satan is the tempter and like it says when we fall which we all seem to do at times at least I have we can ask for forgiveness, we can go directly to God for forgiveness, the curtain in front of the Holy of Holies has been torn in two, yes the one that so many people are trying to sew back together. BUT DELIVER US FROM THE EVIL ONE, yes satan and his cohorts are real and in God's Plan, All of Humanity will be delivered from all evil that is why we are to be willing and active participants in God's Plan whatever we may have been called or chosen to do. Sincerely, Thomas Paul Moses Baum.

Mike said: "The UCC isn't yours either. If you feel the national leadership is too liberal then participate in the fully DEMOCRATIC process that put them in power."
Richmond says: I don't feel they're too liberal, I feel they are not liberal enough. They only show one side of the UCC (the marxist liberation + spong reinteropretationist side) when in fact the UCC is richly diverse, even mix of both the left and the right.... and mostly (45%) moderate. The problem has been that despite actual lay efforts at reform, the oligarchy at the top thinks we're DEMOCRATS rather than DEMOCRATIC.
Paganplace: You fail to distinguish between religious conservatives and the Religious Right Dominionists. That sort of ignorant stereotyping against "THOSE PEOPLE" ... is just as offensive to me as the ignorant claims that pagans are raving hedonists... Both claims are uninformed rhetoric directed against people that probably don't fit the stereotype.

I mean, seriously, Rev. Eliot, ...you come here harshing on the peace movement in the face of your own savior-guy's words.
Really, now. If you're going to insist your book must be taken some version of literally in exclusively governing the unwilling, taxing them without representation in government, and generally lording it over the rest of the country by virtue of your 'numbers,' well, the *least* you could do is start with the *cool* parts.
Like the Beatitudes.
And, just maybe, your claims to represent a religion with sole moral authority over this nation by dint of numbers just don't bear out, even in your own church organization.
Personally, I always thought the Beatitudes were about the best part of your religion. Apart from having other religious experiences of my own, the stubborn failure to recognize *those* words while claiming dominion for nasty ones, is one of the reasons that when I left, and I didn't stop at the next church, ...I just kept on walking.
Till I got home.

Found more 'Traitors,' I see, Rev. Elliot?
Actually, this is one thing I find very interesting: when condemning others, conservative Christians act like the one voice of America, but when called on the Beatitudes by their own churches, there's a lot of hemming and hawing and accusations of disloyalty.
Not to mention condemning and mockery of would-be peacemakers.
Very interesting.
Can I have my civil rights, while you're sorting that out among yourselves? Kind of hungering and thirsting for justice over here. :)

Did you protest Cambodia's massacres?
How about the reeducation camps in Viet Nam?
Did you help rescue the boat people victimized by local pirates?
Did your church help resettle them in the US?
Did you ever take responsibility for those killed because you removed a corrupt government in Viet Nam and allowed it to be replaced by a murderous one?

Remember it were the soldiers that placed the crown of thorns on Christ wrapped Him in a royal robe, spit at Him, slapped Him, and pretended to give Him homage, and made a mockery of the God of Love. Does mean that soldiers are evil, of course not, but it does mean that those who advocate war have a share in this mockery, and the insurgents on the cross who cried out to Christ for help, Jesus ignored their pleas, for He will not help those who choose violence as a way to bring about peace. This is why this country will not win the war, God will not allow it, and it may well mean that this country will lose its status as a major power. Remember Israel when it revolted against the Romans, and its use of violence. Jesus cried about this beforehand have we lost our way to peace as well.

“What was that?”
”I don’t know. I was too busy talking to Bignose.”

Willis E. Elliott, panelist:
Matthew 16:18. "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."
I can't seem to see the s after church. How did the fellow, the one that founded UCC make out after founding another church besides the one Jesus personally started? Was there anything in it for him personally or was he just another servant of the Lord?
The Devil didn't make him do that? The big money, being called America's pastor like Billy, that sort of thing comes from God or Devil?
http://www.hoax-buster.org/sellyoursoul tells us anyone can interpret the Bible, and get the story straight too.
Do people need God or does God need people? What can Devil do on his own, create the universe? God needs people? For what? Methinks Devil made your founder start another church. I'll wager you can justify it. Don't you think it's a shame that no one does what Jesus said, just picks and chooses what fits their agendas?

Some people join the UCC to use it as a weapon in some ideological war they're deeply engaged in. The effect is to convert our church into a political encampment of tents flying various issue-flags. Against this "wag the dog" cooptation of religion for "progressive" causes, our church's founding documents--and most of our churches--are solidly classically Christian--as anyone can see by accessing this site: confessingchrist.org

If people believe war brings about peace than they have put their faith in bombs, missiles, guns, and all the weapons of war, that than becomes our god, their god is the god of war, Satan, and not the God of Love, who is the only real path to peace.

While I respect SBT's choice of her favorite verse, and while I welcome her decision to come to the UCC for whatever reason, I LAMENT her decision to characterize the UCC as a dove church. Her post mischaracterizes the “United in diversity” nature of the UCC.
As with society at the time, there *was* significant disagreement within the United Church of Christ as to the proper course of action in Vietnam, with some congregations being very active in protest against the war, and others objecting to this sort of protest as unpatriotic. The UCC took a strong public stands, but they did so *both* in support and in opposition to the Vietnam war.
The UCC has historically been a place where we are united in diversity – where we are free to disagree vehemently on big issues while still being yoked together in Christian covenant. Our church organization (i.e. “polity”) is such that “Nothing in this Constitution and the Bylaws of the United Church of Christ shall destroy or limit the right of each Local Church to continue to operate in the way customary to it; nor shall be construed as giving to the General Synod, or to any Conference or Association now, or at any future time, the power to abridge or impair the autonomy of any Local Church in the management of its own affairs”
All this has changed because of people like Thistlethwaite.
Fast forward to 2007... At the Friday kickoff of the 26th General Synod (the biannual all-deonimination meeting),Thistlethwaite and the other six presidents of UCC-affiliated seminaries conspired with UCC executive council to launch a massive Iraq war protest on behalf of the entire denomination without prior consultation of any of the local churches. They drafted a pastoral letter that calls on the church to "join protest to prayer" in an effort to end the war. They used language like, “self-serving political gain “ and “the arrogance and folly at its heart “ and “innocent Iraqi lives are daily being offered on the altar of preemptive war and sectarian violence” Radical Anti-war rhetoric that speaks against destruction caused by sanctions and war but fails to acknowledge the destruction caused by radicals religious extremists on the other side.
As a part of this campaign Thistlethwaite is responsible for UCC materials that have been sent to all UCC local churches directing that they insert this pastoral letter into their bulletins and have it be reads aloud in all church services. The national offices are using sophisticated astroturfing software to collect signatures and coordinate an anti-war information and a congressional letter-writing campaign. All this without a proper consultation with the local church. The president of the denomination is planning to present 100,000 signatures to congress to show how ‘the UCC’ opposes the Iraq war.
Is it justice for UCC power holders to misrepresent the views of the pews? Is it righteousness to present a false witness of the UCC to congress?
Conservatives have recently been persecuted within the UCC. Blessed are they?
"God expected justice, but saw bloodshed; righteousness, but heard a cry."
(Isaiah 5.7)

I wonder why the Colt Firearms Co named their hi-tech revolver, "Peacemaker"? Maybe because it's purpose was to send people to God? One must do one's "duty" and make peace.

Please read this wall post I made on facebook... It's just some of the visions I've been having about stuff even NASA is confused about
haha... well, she deleted her myspace... So I communicate her through both her psychic intuition... She's been hacking my computer... Sending me screen savers... I've picked a screensaver with a water tornado, like it a lot, and another one with sounds and emulations of the sea... Like it so much... It calms me down whenever my heart aches and suffers for her, or for my grandmother, on her sick bed... Please pray for grandma to get better... She has a blood clot the size of an egg in her heart... And she really needs our mutual support in prayer to give her good omen in a time of misfortune and bad luck, it might be some kind of deleterious sign in the heaven's above... I think it's a result of Jupiter... For scientists have said that like it or not, Jupiter's intense gravity is what causes many unexpected objects from entering our solar system, but Jupiter has also the beneficial effect of diverting meteors from hitting our Earth by sucking them in a little and knocking them off course...I've looked up the stuff based on facebook astrological charts.... And me and that person are DIRECT opposites... My blood is B negative, hers is A... My ruling planet is Jupiter, hers is Mars... Diamond is her, Pearl is me... I'm Yin, she's yang... I'm the flirty fire rabbit kind... She's the more loyal and familial water dog... Plus our birthdates are not very far apart... She was born in Manhattan, on 1/19/83... I was born 4/7/87... IT seems we were destined to be star-crossed lovers... 4 -1 = 3 right?! And 7 -4 (my birthdate) = 3, right?!... When you arrange letters from A-Z, 1 - 26, and count the letters based on the smallest number you can get counting from either side.. (Like a java array, I used to program in Java, so this stuff seems to come to me naturally)..., then you will find that her name adds up to 67, and my name adds up to 64... Get it 4, 7 My birthdate? And my little bros birthdate 8/8/1998... Has three 8's! It's a blessing from the heavens above... My favorite numbers are 3 and 4, and from these two numbers I can derive all the events of my life... A mad scientist has claimed that Apophosis has a relatively high chance of hitting Earth on 03/01/2036... Unless we spread our light and use it's electromagnetic radiation already within us to avert this disaster... It's going to be tough... It's like Richard Bach said, we have to "remember the light that is within us, that is given to us from a deity above" whether that deity be Greek, Roman, Christian, Buddhist, Christian, whatever... That doesn't matter... But 03/01/2036... Add these numbers up... You get 15... Which if you divide by 3 = 5... And 15 / 1 = 15... And 15 - 1 thus equals 14... 14 factors into 2 and 7... Hence the 7 and the 4 again... If you don't believe me, moreover, if just looking at 2 and 3... Think about it... If you put 2 twos at the end of a number 3, you get 7! People at NASA are looking for answers, I think I've come up with a plausible one... Believe me?
