Hermano Rodriguez thank-you for your words...
As a Chrstian and a veteran I understand that War although tragic is necessary in order to maintain peace. The mere fact that we are called in Romans to put on the whole armor explicity informs us as that we are in a war, not of machine or man but or principlalites and rulers of darkness.
Will there be casualties, yes, as with every war...be we must fight the good fight of faith knowing that God holds the banner of victory and if God be for us, who dare be agaist us...
The debate whether or not America should still be there is one left to politicians. If you ask the soldier on the front lines, his response is to complete his mission....Brave men and women sacrifice their lives so that we here at home may continue living in a free and democratic society.
Instead of debating, remember those who are on watch right know even as you read this and lift them up in prayer as well as their families....
A quote from Sun Zu "The Art of War"
"If you know yourself and you know your enemy you will know the outcome of 100 battles. If you know yourself and you don't know the enemy, for every battle one you will loose one. If you don't know yourself and you don't know your enemy you will succomb in battle every time."
Rightousness exalts a Nation.....

What do you mean by most successful? It is true that aggressive societies are most adept at -- aggression. That's kind of a fight club definition of success.

If one puts "christ" back into "Christianity", then there's only one way Christians can feel about war.......... and that is to be absolutely against it.

It's known that the most succesful societies are the most agressive ones. Europe wan't coverted by tea parties, a lot of blood was spilled. decimation started here. all what was needed; was for someone to be called heretic to have his life, family and belongings taken.
No other parts of the world saw so much destruction as europe, and no land advanced and perfected the art of war than europe. the rest of the world is trying to catch up.. now.
But you can't blame christianity as a whole for this.
Most conquistadores where illiterate who didn't have a clue about christianity. Gold on the other hand; was a different thing. greed was first and religion was the last thing if it ever was in their minds.

"Millions", "utterly decimated", call it what you will guys, it's still wholesale murder on a massive scale.

Mary Cunningham:
I am overwhelmed by your brilliance. It was only 8 million the Spanish killed. And to make my ignorance worse, the Aztecs continued running Mexico, gave the gold to the Spaish so they could take it directly to God. Oh well, and I'm so dumb I thought the Mayans were extinct before the Spanish arrived. So you're saying that whoever did God's will in their case left a few alive. It's really hard to kill them all you know.

I don't think Mary was saying killing people in moderation is okay. I think she was trying to get people to stop using these absolutes like "completely decimated" when that is not correct.

From Wikipedia,
The ''New Spain'' of the 17th century was a depopulated country and many Mesoamerican cultures were wiped out.
From International Herald Tribune,
Pope, the representetive(vicar) of Son of God(Pharaoh was the representetive of god Amon Ra,Hittites King was the representetive of god Teshup and Apollo was the son of god Zeus),Ratzinger, infallible man(pope joan was a female),ex-nazi worked to quell anger in South America over his recent comments on the conversion of native populations,''unjustifiable crimes'' were committed in the conquest of the continent 500 years ago.

So Mary, what you are saying is that it's ok to kill lots of people as long as it isn't too many? Gotcha.
You're a great apologist by the way but given your vast intellectual superiority, I'm shocked you don't know the seat of the Mayans. Try a history book.

B'Gone,
This will be my *only* post to you for you are one of the dumbest of all the atheist posters. I'm sorry to call you a name, but the epithet is true.
Here is a link to the CIA website of Mexico:
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/mx.html
Mexico's population today is 108 million people. Estimates of the ethnic mix is as follows:
Amerindian-Spanish: 60%
Amerindian or predominantly Amerindian: 30%
White: 9%
Other: 1%
The population of Mexico--the seat of the Aztec and (I think) Mayan civilizations-- at the time of the Spanish conquests was, at most, probably ( it's very difficult to estimate) between 4 to 8 million people. Even if half the Amerindian population died in the epidemics that ravaged central America after the arrival of the Europeans, 4 million to 108 million after five centuries is a long, long way from being "decimated."
There is a good book out now on the Spanish Empire..Look it up and read it.

HALOZCEL:
The Aztec and Incas were wiped out "by right of conquest" and therefore faith based. The marriage of faith and war is unmistakable. No faith means no war. Faith in the NIE now has us in Iraq so faith is not always in supernatural beings but clearly faith feeds upon itself, buy one lie softens the faithful up so they can more easily buy another.
"By right of conquest" is a God and therefore faith given right for the stronger to overpower the weaker and take what they pleas from them without limit.

Folks:
I am assuming by "utterly decimated" you mean wiped out rather than the more exact term of one in ten killed. This is because more than one in ten of the Amerindians died after contact with the Europeans.
What Amerindians weren't wiped out by Europeans were done to death by their livestock. The germs Europeans carried in their bodies, especially germs that came from living in close proximity to animals, Europeans were immune to. The Indians had no immunity. Those Amerindian women who lived with their Spanish conquerors (if they didn't die from disease) and lived long enough to have children by them were able to pass their fathers' immunities onto their children.
You folks really should get your history from books, not from atheist websites. Read!
More reading + less ranting=fewer dumb posts.

It's ok Halozcel, those Christians that utterly decimated South America and the Caribbean for their own ends weren't perfect, just forgiven.

Rev. Samuel Rodriguez:
Thank you for your thoughts on keeping FAITH in times of war. I found your words enlightening and encouraging. Perhaps you are more able to minister to our military in harms way than the other panel members? You are speaking to THEIR FAITH NEEDS and I have taken your words and sent them out to those who most need them.

I hope the Rev. is not implying that there is never justification for War. What about the Holocaust, Rwanda and such. At times, War does lead to peace. Some wars are justified, others are not. We do not live in Utopia. At times, armed conflict is the only manner to disarm evil.
