Should the Federal Government be allowed to determine the hiring practices of religious organizations?

If those organizations are being funded by tax dollars, yes.
I don't think the fed shpuld be writing chescks to churches - period. But they do. So if a church is going to accept federal funds, then it should be required to abide by federal non-discrimination regulations.

The federal government has laws that preclude discrimination in hiring. So long as religious institutions are established on American soil, they must be required to obey the law.
As matters stand, they have not been. They violate the requirements of their nonprofit status in their endless politicizing and lobbying attempts.
That nonprofit status in and of itself is in violation of the First Amendment.
It must end. Believers are invited to fund their own religious institutions, and leave the rest of us out of it. Free dollars to them is particularly deplorable in light of our economy. Frankly, I'm amazed that these institutions can bring themselves to accept this taxation without representation from the rest of us. This, while Americans go to bed hungry.
