Unveil the Platform
Jesus chose fisherman, tax collectors and zealots to be his disciples. He dined with the questionable in society. He spent time with women and talked to children, which was scandalous at the time. The political and religious establishment tried to corner Him with such questions and confrontations, but He paid no attention, and kept loving people for who He saw them to be.
We are talking about adults, not impressionable children. If these people aren't capable of making sound decisions for the good of all, then they shouldn't be running for office. The question shouldn't be about what their mentor, friend, or pastor believes; the question should be what they believe - maybe these other figures can help the American voters come up with questions for the candidates to answer - not accusations about their character, but opportunities for a continual unveiling of their platform.
