Showing his Politics, Not his Faith
I found Governor Romney’s speech on religion to be little more than pandering to right-wing religious enthusiasts. It may help in the primary process with southern and midwestern evangelicals, but should he get the Republican nomination, it will not help him in the general election. He does not seem to embrace the fact that this nation has more than just religious voters.
The fact that Governor Romney is a Mormon has constituted no problem for me. Indeed, I am suspicious of those for whom it is a problem. That arises, I suspect, out of the fact that America’s “Religious Vote” (a category that does not include me, I hasten to add) seems to be eager to impose its view of both God and the universe on this nation in violation of our Constitution. I could support no candidate who would pack the Supreme Court with religious ideologues, seek to create a theocracy in America, or go to war after consulting with his heavenly father. Those have been the tragic mistakes of this administration.
Governor Romney was a more appealing candidate to me before he made the “Faith in America” speech. I was impressed with his demonstrated ability to run the Olympics and to be an effective governor of Massachusetts. When he reversed his position on abortion, gay rights and gun control, I became less enamored. Now that he panders to militant fundamentalism, I am no longer willing to consider his candidacy at all. I once regarded him as the most competent candidate on the Republican side. I think the choice now offered by the Republican Party is quite threadbare. If I were to vote in the Republican primary, I believe my present choice would be John McCain, but I would cast that vote with no enthusiasm.

Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke.
He says to you today be ready and watch for Him because the sign's are here and He says rejoice America! For the man that I place in your White House shall do awesome things. For the year 2008 God says look at your stocks, look at your economy, look at your illegal’s. And God said this is a secret from the Lord today, He says a mighty thing shall shake the nation of Mexico God says this shaking shall bring about tremendous floodings, earthquakes and an awesome display of His presence as He shakes and penetrates the wickedness in this nation.
Mat 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
And God says to America look upon California for they are going to make movies in 2008 that are going to surprise the Christian denominations and they will say can you believe that we have another Christian video that is for the believers of God?
1Ch 29:14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.
God said this to the nation and the spiritual regions of China he says do not worry I have you in My hands. To those who are hurting in Africa He says please listen I am sending you hope I am sending the refugees of troubled times and they will pass these times of tribulation. For God said now the He said the tribulation is taking place but and God says the tribulation has been taking place since Christ left.
Isa 55:13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord's renown, for an everlasting sign, which will not be destroyed.”
I will give you one more sign for 2008; God said to America, He said you will unite. And the UN will be so scattered and divided in 2009 and 2008 about Iran that they will say we do not know what to do with this nation and God said this He said listen to your President for in 08 he will know what to do in Iran and He says to you today My man that I choose will pray in the White House.

A good column, but be honest: weren't you bending over to give Romney the benefit of the doubt before his actions blasted your turning of the other cheek?
I know it's always a disappointment when Republicans live down to our real feelings about them, but it's something we all need to get used to.
The evidence on Republicans is in, and it's in in spades.
The disappointment that is Mitt Romney is no surprise. It was just his turn. The others will get theirs as well.

I have always thought McCain is the least unreasonable choice amongst the republican candidates, I was never keen on Romney because of his pandering. Running the olympics, buying up businesses and laying off its workers, are not prerequisites for the presidency. And Romney, in his speech, confounded the founding fathers with the McCarthyites.
