Pastor Dukes, Thank you for giving me an understanding about Thanksgiving now I know that its more than about good food and family. It's about giving the almighty thanks for another year of life and the trails that he brought us from thus far. Even those who don't pray or go to church they still give thanks. sherrel

Gema Dukes:

Pastor Dukes,

Thank you for broadening my understanding of Thanksgiving. When you mentioned that in spite of an individual's spiritual status, that we can still come together as family, it clarified a few things for me, personally. I believe also, that because Thanksgiving is very near and dear to my heart that it is to be handled with care, because I truly am thankful for all I have, and that it is a wonderful opportunity to come closer together in unity. Not just on Thanksgiving, but on the other Holidays as well, Veterans' Day, Memorial Day....these too make us think of family. Thanks for reminding us to use every opportunity to demonstrate love to one another.

Mickie Cephas:

I agree Pastor Dukes ...I think the sense of appreciation is spiritual. I believe we were created to be in relationship with our Creator, and whether believer or non believer, our souls long for it. Days like Thanksgiving makes us more sensitive to this longing.. Thank You Pastor Dukes for the insight.

Tasha Thomas:

Thank you for bringing back what Thanksgiving really is about, being Thankful for family, friends, life, health and above all Love. No matter how you may feel or what may be going on in your life on Thanksgiving I believe we all feel a spiritual presence that makes us reflect back on the things in our lives that we ought to be thankful for. I appreciate you placing emphasis on this Holiday, so we can make a mental note to not take life for granted but to be thankful for it.

Yolanda Merkison:

I agree that Thanksgiving is spiritual in nature. That day makes us all think of everything that has happened to us whether good or bad and realize that we've made it through. We are also able to appreciate the people in our lives that helped us get to where we are.

Rosalind Taylor:

Thank you for the deeper understanding of what Thanksgiving really means Pastor. After so many years some people start to lose sight of what Thanksgiving is really about, and your spiritual insight really hit home and I know it was from the heart.

I spend Thanksgiving Day home alone, which was okay with me, it gave me time to rest my mind, enjoy the peace and quite and really reflect on all that I truly have to be thankful for.

Thank you again Pastor Dukes (the awesome man of God)

Juanita McFadden:

Thank you Pastor Dukes, for reminding us what Thanksgiving really means. The time to reflect and be thankful for family, friends, neighbors, good health and wonderful Pastors like yourself to keep us on our best spiritual path.

This is a great outlet. Thank you again Pastor Dukes.

Michael Houston:

This is an inspiring and thought-provoking commentary by Pastor Dukes in that it brings to life the "spiritual" aspect of holidays such as Veterans Day that I, and probably many others, did not recognize. Now I will not look at another holiday just in the natural, a day off to kick back and relax and give the standard acknowledgment, but to find and celebrate the spiritual significance.

Thank you Pastor Dukes for this great impartation!

Kevin Nathan:

Pastor Dukes,
What a wonderful expression of the true essence of Thanksgiving Day!

Growing up and experiencing Thanksgiving has always been go to Big Mama's house and everybody comes over to eat and rekindle the family ties, which is good. However, there was a spiritual side that sometimes fell by the wayside until we all sat around the table to give thanks for all we have been blessed with.

Comments like yours really bring the REAL meaning of Thanksgiving to the forefront! Well, said and thank you!

Denise Reubel:

Pastor Dukes,

You have definitely expressed the true meaning of acknowledging Thanksgiving. This particular Thanksgiving I experienced how important it is to be thankful for the blessings you receive.

I was suppose to be with my family in North Carolina, but things did not go as planned, but I was so thankful that I we were all safe and blessed to see another day.

It is important that we are aware we are not in charge of what happens in our lives and that we are thankful for the blessings that we receive.

Thank you for opening up the doors of awareness.

Pastor Dukes, excellent! You are a spirit-led writer! God bless you.

Annette Corprew:

Pastor Dukes,

What a profound revelation on what “Thanksgiving Day” is all about! I am elated for such a thought provoking critique.

Superbly expressed!!!

I conclude and am sincerely thankful for you and Co-Pastor Dukes.

Karen Thompson:

Pastor Dukes' article took me to a higher level of thinking naturally and spiritually regarding Thanksgiving.

It is truly spiritual in nature because it is a time when everyone reflects on their lives and really have a heart of "Thanks". It is awesome that this holiday is the start of the Christmas season.

Well said! Pastor Dukes

Andre Jackson:

Pastor Dukes,

Your perspective of Thanksgiving really caused me to understand how powerful this holiday truly is!

Many people take off from work, press through hours of traffic, and make several other arrangements just to spend time with family and friends.

The desire to express thankfulness will cause one to press past themselves and do something extra in order to share in the joy thanksgiving brings.

Thanks for such an awesome posting Pastor Dukes!

Andre

Well said Ms. Brooks!

I only wish to add that many of us are thankful for Pastor Dukes and Co-Pastor Dukes. Come to the Harvest, the spiritual connection is there and it is real!!

Lori Brooks:
