God to Moses: “I don’t need a pretty bush or an educated bush or an eloquent bush. Any old bush will do, as long as I (God) am in the bush.”

Mr. Luis palau, how do you know that God has a porpouse for your life?? I'm not a christian yet, but I'm visiting Christian church. When I go there, I like when they worship God, but when everyone is out. I can see people from the same church different. Like maybe just because you are not christian, but i don't care. Is just that I see too many false people.

To MWatson:
Whilst it is certainly true, as you say, that the focus is supposed to be on what Dr Palau said it is surely also appropriate to comment on what others say. My comment was specifically addressed to a comment made by another participant who chose to talk (with a quote from Mathews gospel)about eternal punishment in hell. Is this what you categorize as "ridicule"? It so happens that I do not believe in the existence of hell and I certainly do not believe in eternal punishment. If you think my comments was strange then I can only suggest that belief in hell is far stranger.
For those like myself who do not believe in the Christian (or Muslim, or Hindu)concept of God to is hard to comment on Palau's description of his own experience of a mystical nature. All I can say is that those of us who are not believers are not closed off from mystical/spiritual experiences. We simply interpret them differently than those of faith do. So, when you talk of letting God "work through you", this is a language that does not work for me. This in no way means that I have no concern for others or that I am deprived in any way. I happen to have found my own truth in my own way as we ought all to do.

I have just read every comment so far. The point, I thought was to comment on what Dr. Palau has said. I understand he is saying that God wants to work through you, if you let him. You don't have to work to gain God's favor. I don't understand the previous comments or the blinded, off topic ridicule.
Thank you Dr. Palau for writing something that is positive and enduring this strange ridicule that is not on point.
I have personally experienced this Dr. Palau's comment to be true. Stop working for God and let God work though you. It's more satisfying and rewarding. Maybe the other commenters just need to open the door to the possibility that God does want to work with them.
Keep up the good comments Dr. Palau!

This must surely be the most bizarre and internally contradictory notion in the whole of the Bible:
46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
How can anyone imagine eternal punishment being meted out by a supposedly loving God who ostensibly allowed his Son to die for our sins. What on earth happened to "Other sheep have I which are not of this fold"?(John 10:16)
Do those who claim to be "righteous" and believe this stuff imagine for one minute that any Divine aspects of the universe could be so crass as to be complicit in doling out "eternal punishment" for nothing worse than holding the wrong beliefs?

Pray that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob lead you to the Living Word of God. Pray that the time will come when you will all see the Truth, acknowledge the Truth, and confess the Truth.
You will know Him and recognize His voice. He is patient and hopes you all will come to Calvary. God has made a plan for everyone's salvation, that is everyone that has ever existed and will exist. Let us set aside all of our difference and recognize that we all belong to the One True Living God. Let us unite as one, that we may be able to bring about God's Glory. Let us turn away from the world and stand fast face to face with the Living God of all creation.
Love, Hope and Faith to you all.

Greg,
Thanks for your biblical citations. It is a joy to me to see some light in this string of communications.
I beg of you all to search your hearts and listen to that soft voice speaking to you. What is it saying? What has it said before? Maybe the world has made it difficult to hear that voice after many years of it molding you. Just ask yourself, what seems more true? Do I have a purpose that is beyond myself? Do I have anything to offer the rest of humanity that will help them in their life? Is there something greater than what I have seen or heard that diserves the credit for my existance? Please let us set aside all rudeness. Let us set aside the theories that have been brought to us. Let us get to a place where we decide to truly figure out what all of this is about. Is it about money? Is it about power? Is it about knowledge? Is it about wisdom? If you had all the money, all the power, all the knowledge, and all the wisdom; don't you still end up where everyone else does in the end? I beg of you all to clear your misconceptions and ideaologies from this world and seek out the Truth for yourself. If you were capable of creating the universe, the sun, the moon, the stars, the planets, the life on earth; would you not have had a specific reason and purpose for doing so? So what now? If all of this is just talk and there is no purpose to life and our end is all the same; what should we say then? Does it make more sense that there would be a purpose for all of this or that there is no purpose for life? We all live to eventually die one day? How does that thought settle in you?

Interesting point Duff. Let me answer that with this point. If you want to see if a Christian walks the walk ask them how they fufuill Matthew 25:31-46
31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
I added the passages to make it easier for you to see what I am talking (well typing) about. If they start listing off things like angel tree, feeding the homeless, habitat for humanity etc., chances are they are the real deal. If they start hemming and hawing then chances are they're posers.
As for me? Donating clothes to the local children's shelter, food bank, angel tree, coat and blanket drives...
You can also see if they take Romans 12:18 to heart or not.
18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
The references are from www.biblegateway.com and I used the NIV translation.

So, Reverend Palau, you saw your burning bush and immediately knew this religion thing was for you. I think in most televangelist cases, the burning bush represents a very prolific money machine, commonly known as the God Business.
I've often thought about getting into the God Business myself, but am, alas, too honest.

Hoax-buster dude:
I have visited your website (and I do believe it is YOUR website). Your theory is not plausible for several reasons.
1. If you take the conservative Christian stance, the entire Old Testament was already written well before the Greeks invaded Egypt. The only two authors who ever spent any time in Egypt would have been Moses and Jeremiah. No one else would have ever been in Egypt and therefore could not have borrowed Egyptian mythology.
2. If you take the most liberal Christian theologians' explanations, most of the Old Testament was written after the return from Babylonian exile. Again, those authors would have never been to Egypt and would have not had any clue how to read Hieroglyphics. And, they were writing at least four hundred years before the Greeks took over Egypt.
3. The New Testament writers were able to write in Greek, but they would have never been to Egypt and would not have been fluent in Egyptian.
4. Most of the The New Testament was written while the people who witnessed those events were still alive. (Conservative scholars would say the Old Testament was complete by 90 or 95 AD.) So, a retelling of some Egyptian folklore would never have convinced anyone in the first century to follow a Jesus that no one had ever met, let alone be persecuted and DIE for Him.
5. I totally agree with Justin. Why would God create everything, and then go into hiding while the Devil takes over and claims to be God?
Sorry. Not buyin' it.
How about this? What if the Devil instead wrote that Egyptian stuff on the wall? What if HE was the pirate, retelling the truth for his own purposes? He is a counterfeit, after all. He rips off the truth and retells it as false religion.
This hoax-buster thing is ridiculous, but I have tried to address is seriously, because I think you take it seriously. I pray that you would see the Truth.

Jonathan Switzer:
There are few who cannot come up with some scheme that if everyone followed it there would be peace, everyone love everyone else. Problem is we're all different. Anyone's scheme always has h/er winning, doing just fine while others suffer.
There's one who posts here, Bob I think who seems to be upset by the Palestinain fiasco that's been ongoing since someone thought it was a good idea to return Jews to their homeland after 2,000 years of exile. Problem with that is the same one that would be experienced if native Americans had their homeland returned and the rest of us cramped up in the Jackson's Purchase and Long Island, (land actually bought from native Americans). We are forever trying to right wrongs of the past by more wrongs in the present is a good way to explain it in my way of thinking. Maybe the Arabs who owned palestine by some unknown rule could have been BOUGHT out rather than being THROWN out?
Using a hoax as our morality guide kinda says it all doesn't it? In other words, what did you expect? It allows folks to make up rules for everyone to live by that has them winning while many suffer. Then we can be all surprised that there is more than one of them hoaxes used to make up rules that are the absolute word of God. Pardon the hoax buster but he says they're the absolute word of Devil using the Bible, hoax number one for his arguments.
Either Moses spoke to Devil or the Bible is a hoax. Those are pretty clear choices. Let's hear the counter arguments. Forget proving there is no God. Let's suppose there is a God. Prove there's no Devil or something to counter? It's getting in the way of spiritual upliftings and just causes.

Anyone who's life work is to preach the God described in Christian scripture has to defend the actions of the god described therein -- the ethnic cleansing, genocide, jealousy, demands for human sacrifice, the behavior of a petulant child; and then ask why anyone not raised in that tradition would want anything to do with it.
One commenter writes that Mr. Palau's "personal experience of connection with God is at least as valid as any described by Sam Harris". I would agree if the word "valid" was replaced with the word "vivid". I do not know if it is more valid.
I would also ask why Christ does not "come into the life" of Jews and Muslims and atheists? Is it all a cosmic game, an accident of birth?

Justin:
How do one tell the difference in God and Devil?
Devil delivers the goodies here and now, what people pray for and maybe get.
God gave one order, "earn thy bread by the sweat of thy face." God just isn't into helping out, that's Devil that's there to JUSTIFY as in operation just cause.
Peace never cimes until Devil is recognized. You'll find him in your churches, temples, synagogues and mosques being represented by vicars. God has no representatives unless it's the hoax buster.

It is true that Mr. Palau grounds all of his beliefs in the teaching of the Bible. I understand that to be a huge stumbling block for most of those who visit this site. Nevertheless, his personal experience of connection with God is at least as valid as any described by Sam Harris. Furthermore, his life work of bringing hope to the world through the incredibly inspiring story of Christ's sacrificial love can hardly be considered a bad or evil thing. If every person ever hearing the message of reconciliation and restoration inherent in Luis' columns were to choose to live like Luis (or the one about whom he preaches) then truly we would have much good to anticipate in the future. Further, his vigorous study of mankind and the Bible to "know God better" is the kind of example that surely invigorates all who pursue truth in the hope of knowing the world and ourselves better. Such a faith/hope in a better future is profound. Though I share his dogma, I also share his hope for tomorrow.

Don't you think that if the Devil is so alive and active in the world, God would be just as much?
Where is God in this whole hoax buster idea - sitting back and watching the Devil take over?
You are right. The Devil is active. He is one to watch out for. But God is just as active. If you look for Him, you will find Him.

Justin:
Does Devil lie and say he is God? Did Devil attempt to throw God out of heaven and take over? Who won the fight between good and bad angels? How sure are you? A little knowledge is a dangerous thing that prompts people to worship Devil calling Him God.
The evidence says the Bible is Devil's word. Devil lies, cheats, steals, lynches, justifies slavery, says sins are forgiven, the works because He wants people in hell with Him. Do those that recruit the most people to worship Devil receive the greatest reward here on earth, pope, big time television preachers, missionaries, others?
God is almighty. If God wants Israelites in Canan they're there, bang. God does not need to trick people, cause the death of firstborn sons of Pharaoh or nothing else. God can create matter from nothing. Got faith? In what?

The Devil and Not God???
The devil encouraging Moses to follow God? That seems a little odd. If I am to believe this hoax buster thing, that is all I am left with.
Exodus 11:12 – And God (the burning bush) said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”
It seems that the Devil isn’t too smart if he finally gets Moses to listen to him only to point him back to God.
As for me, I’ll stick with the Bible rather than the Hoax Busters. It seems to be more reliable. Thanks for the thought though.

Wondering if Jihadist read the same article I did? Seems to me that OnFaith is an opportunity to read and learn about the Faith of other people so we can grow in our understanding and appreciation of them.
Mr. Palau has opened up his heart here to share one of his most personal and inspiring moments. Who are we to call him down for what he believes or would love for us to believe? Jihadist's attitude is what has created division in our country and world.
Oh that we should all have an experience with the devine in our lives so that we can share it with others and have them share in our joy.

Reverand Palau:
A silly question. Was that really God in the burning bush?
Interpretation 1,501, http://www.hoax-buster.org/sellyoursoul says it was Devil and not God because "the fire that burns but does not consume" is the variety of fire unique to hell.
Would you counter his interpretation for us who have seen and no longer believe? How can we "got faith" that's really God, a being so powerful He can create something from noting yet must resort to murder to get Pharaoh to "let my people go?" Please reverand, I beg you, tell us how we can ignore interpretation 1501?
