Once can never be wholly satisfied- nor should one be.
There is always more to do, and the fact is that life is short and the things that need
doing simply pile up.
If you feel, as I do, that God has set you here
for a purpose, and that a large part of that purpose is to improve the lives
of those who are disadvantaged, you can never be satisfied, for we never
conquer disadvantage.
However, if you were to ask whether I am content
with where I am in my life, the answer is yes- I have a good life,
reasonable health, public recognition, interesting things to do, and my
curiosity and zest for life remain unabated at 57.
But that is purely
personal, and teaches us to be grateful for what we have. It is by no
means the same as being satisfied with what one has achieved either
personally or as a society- and there my dissatisfaction remains high.
