This is one of those questions that marks me out as a Liberal Jew. First, I have no idea whether the world will come to an end, but regard it as only possible if human beings behave in such a way as to make it do so.
My view is this: All we know about is that we have one life, that no one
has come back to tell us otherwise, that since we are here and have a
responsibility to the world in which we live, we had better do as well
as we can, and behave as morally and ethically as we can, and not worry
about the end of the world.
Instead, let us worry about feeding the hungry and
healing the sick, about our manifold social problems, about all the
inequalities that exist in our world- the fault of human neglect, all to
often- and let us do what we can about this world, whilst we have it.
The rest is just conjecture and speculation- this world, in the here and
now, we might be able to change for the better.
