The more important question is at what level of moral and psychological development are the people who are using religion to address sexism and racism because that will determine how they use religion.

The problem with sexism is that it is usually expressed in condescension rather than overt hatred. Those who express their own insecurities by objectifying women and beating up on them are generally scorned by society at large. I am more worried by those men and women who feel that females need to be taken care of and protected, as if we are incapable of thinking straight and doing things for ourselves.
