Free Speech and Muslims in Europe

For some, the Geert Wilders film represents a small victory in an ongoing war between Western liberty and the irrationality of Muslim sensitivities.

Steve:

Free speech means people will reveal what Muslims do not want to hear. Does free speech also mean that Muslims are willing to seek truth and acknowledge what is found?

For example - what evidence reveals:

Concerned American Muslim:

When I read this article, my frame of reference goes back to WWII and the hateful propaganda in cartoons, books, & journals against Jews and their faith in the build up to the war and their subsequent murder. What I find most disturbing in this article is that 59% of the Germans who were interviewed said that printing a cartoon of Muhammad as a terrorist was protected and 10% said that anti-semitic cartoons were protected as well. And yet,it's only been 60 years since WWII and only 10-20 years since Europe's second round of ethnic cleansing in the Balkans (this time of Muslims). So am I surprised? No. Scared? Perhaps.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE FREEDOM AND FREE SPEECH. But in the market place of ideas, hateful press messages (that carry more weight than non-press messages) shouldn't be the ones we tout as upholding the cherished values of free speech.

Concerned The Christian Now Liberated:

John Esposito, Christian flunky for Islam,

Address the flaws and errors of Islam and get back to us before you do any more commentaries.

As a reminder:

The first four major flaws and errors of Islam:

1. Belief in "pretty/ugly wingie thingies".

2. Belief that an hallucinating, illiterate Arab did actually talk to the "pretty Gabriel" in the hot "Gabe" cave and therein received the warmongering and anti-female words and resultant laws now listed in the koran.

3. That Sunnis are superior to Shiites in all aspects of life. And Shiites think the same way about Sunnis.

4. That Islam is perfect and the koran inherently condones no sin even though the 24/7, 800 year-old blood feud between Sunnis and Shiites gives significant credence that greed, hate, suicides, assassinations, maiming, and murder are condoned by the koran. Having multiple wives also gives significant credence to the sins of rape, adultery, lust and polygamy. The condoned treatment of these wives gives credence that the koran allows the sins of hatred, anger and greed.

A. Kafir:

Esposito is man bought and paid for by petro dollars. His conscience has no role to play. The movie is not a criticism of Islam. Very very similar movies are made by the jihadis and sold all over the world. The only difference is the silly and bad cartoon of muhammad in the beginning. I wonder what Esposito has to say if the west started playing the snuff movies that the jihadis are playing to recruit the world over.
