It would have been very difficult to read all of these entries nor does anyone have a handle on the true nature of them. They do definitely show differing interpretations of your initial comment and some of the difficulties and confusions all of us (myself included) face. I believe your inspiring message has a lot to do with sucessfully aligning our lives with God's purpose. When we are not in that sweet spot God will make it very plain and clear to all. As you said stretching and growing into that person requires risk, confidence, and faith. We must sometimes put aside the riches and material we once held so dearly. I have often wondered why persons who are sucessful and have possesion of millions of dollars will steal or embezzle. I think one answer is what the Bible might call an unfulfilled or filling or lives with unclean riches.

It is obviuos that so many of those who downplay good ideas/advice have nothing going on in their own lives and it is in their own best interest to not take this good advice for granted this time round. I'm not surprised at their critisisms against TD Jakes, because some people just hate anything that is good, no matter what you do for them. But be rest assured that we cannot join you to promote evil on this planet. I for one, I'm on the Lord's side and so does TD and others and we hope that you will too.
Make hay while the sun shine for you may not always have such good advice in your life. This period of time may be an opportunity for you to turn your life around for the better, having read TD's words of wisdom and the Holy Bible.

Thank you for the reminder that this life is not a dress rehearsal. When asked recently what I fear most, my answer was "never reaching my full potential." God has blessed me with many gifts and great intellect - but I have much unrest in my heart knowing that bad decisions have kept me from becoming what I am meant to be. Bishop Jakes, my life was changed by reading "Woman, Thou Art Loosed" and I will no doubt be further challenged by reading this book. TD Jakes, Thank you for your words of encouragement. I have recently taken on a new job that has taken me and my finances out of my comfort zone. I love the new job and look forward to working harder and harder at it every day. I am very good at what I do and now I can really shine. I have been criticized harshly saying it is "stupid" to take a job that is going to put everything else in flux. Ok, I want you all to dig deep and be honest. Does Jakes set off the bells and whistles on you gaydar? This dude has a lisp stronger than Teddy - The 'I graduated from club Pray the Gay Away' Haggard.

It's incredible that these simple words of encouragement have caused so many angry responses.

To the person who condems TD Jakes regarding serving money and God... The Bible reveals the difference in having money and the "love" of money. The scripture tells us to “Honor the Lord from our wealth and from the first of all our produce” (Proverbs 3:9). Most unethical behavior is uprooted in money and material possessions. The Bible does not condemn either. These things can do great good when they are used wisely and kept in proper perspective. Abraham, Isaac and Solomon were very rich. The problem occurred when their material possessions were idolized. The Bible reveals that the problem is not with money, but with the love of money. 1 Timothy 6:10 lets us know that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Leaders must not let the love of money sprout unethical conduct in their business. Business leaders who are focused in the Lord cannot be bought at an unethical price. They instill a spirit of moral ethics based on Godly principles in their business at all times. Galatians 5th chapter, verses 1 and 16 encourages business leader to “stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage”. To God be the glory ffor which all our blessings come!

I take exception to the excessive use of the pronoun "you" by the Rev. Jakes when it comes to the Biblical concept of "faith". First and foremost, this faith must come by hearing the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (Rm 10.17). This means we as sinful humans cannot, as Martin Luther would say, by our own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ or come to Him (See 1 Cor 2.14, 12.3, and Eph 2.8,9). Now once, we have come to faith it is the work of the Holy Spirit who begins the process of conversion, regeneration, and sanctification such that good works will now follow from my faith, received as a gift, for the benefit of my neighbor. My whole life is turned rightside up by this gift of God and it has nothing to do with something I could have done to save myself. It was all His doing. Finally,I can rephrase Rev. Jakes' words as follows: "I can begin to see the transformation into becoming what I long to be - like my Savior Jesus Christ".

Regardless of your specific theosophical leanings, Bishop Jakes' basic message - take full advantage of the time you have on this earth to become the person you want to be instead of wasting it wallowing in "coulda woulda shoulda" - makes perfect sense.

TD Jakes is not telling people to following him as a person....he is following the word and teaching people how to build their relationship with God.....unlike the Church and others who pretend to be God un earth.

With all due respect to the bishop, I've yet to find a person who has cornered the market on the understanding of the nature and intent of God. That said any who find a leader in pastor Jakes I say follow him but believe in God. As for myself I have found that my faith is shaped by my experience and quest for understanding of the human condition and my role in it. No religion, no text, no church has the one and difinitive revelation of the God of men.

Seek knowledge outside of the trunkated and redacted texts of the Bible, Torah or Koran. Learn of the people for whom these texts were first composed so you might have an understanding of the minds of the authors, then choose your path, shape your belief and cultivate your relationship with the God of your understanding.

If such as yourself would stop giving play to such as T.D. Jakes and others of the same ilk, we would not have this cocaphony of idiocy permeating the print and electronic media. In addition, I would suggest reading the Bible for oneself to know what GOD has said. The Bible says, Beware of false prophets. DUH! Is anyone paying attention.

Pastor Jakes: As always the text is very inspiring and you always know how to plainly put the word of God. Also, it's good to know that a pastor can teach on stuff other than Spiritual things. I think we all get so Spiritual sometimes that we forget the Natural things of Life. We don't think that if we just do some basic fundamental things we won't have to rely on Jesus for miracle after miracle. We aren't supposed to be living on miracles.
