If the remains of Jesus had been definitively found, Christianity would be radically changed into an ethical system without salvific substance.
That would of itself be valid. Of course, one cannot help recalling an account carried in the Christian Century magazine of how Paul Tillich, the noted theologian, reacted to such a claim. He is supposed with almost sardonic humor to have said, “Well, such a finding would destroy one myth, that being that Jesus never lived.” Humor which borders on blasphemy!
Seriously, claims of such a discovery are patently ridiculous. Considering the enemies Jesus had while He lived on earth, would not they gleefully have exposed the resurrection account as a hoax? Secondly, people of that era would not have died by violent means for what they knew to be a fraud. In loyalty to Jesus Christ, people were martyred, did die. That is unassailable history.
Finally, nothing is more self-serving than attacking faith and facts for attention and assets.
Jesus Christ lives!
