California's first lady, Maria Shriver, considers herself "a Catholic in good standing," but in an interview with On Faith, said that she disagrees with the church's teachings on divorce, homosexuality and abortion rights.
On abortion, she said "I often talk to my daughters and at my dinner table about the difference between being pro-abortion versus pro-choice. . . I believe that that choice should be left to a woman."
But Shriver does look to Catholic teaching for inspiration and uses her position as first lady to promote women's empowerment. "I believe in the compassion and justice of Jesus Christ, I believe in the social justice of the Catholic Church," Shriver added.
Shriver recently sat down with On Faith behind the scenes of her women's conference in Long Beach, CA, which brought together political, business, cultural and entertainment leaders under the theme of empowering women.

Let's see...Maria Shriver teaches her daughters that a fetus is not a human life worth protecting. Perhaps it is just a viable tissue mass that a women is free to abort (or "Terminate") for whatever reason and God will understand. In addition, the father has no reproductive rights. And third, society should be forced to pay for abortions via nationalized health care. Stop seeking advice from the creation Maria. Seek the advice of the creator. Remember, Jesus was sent because we "know not what we do." Understand what you believe in Maria! Read the bible for yourself. If you rely on a church to tell you what to believe, it will never have meaning for you. I recommend 1st Timothy, chapter 4.

Maria Shriver, you are no doubt a fantastic woman. Empowering women is a great way to contribute to society. You come from an illustrious family, have a great husband, are a great wife, mother and first lady, and have done some terrific work and continue to do.
You are a great friend of Oprah Winfrey. A wonderful thing. Passing off her style of New Ageism for Catholicism is not a good thing.

How sad for Shriver. The Kennedys are some of the most messed up Catholics I have ever witnessed. I don't know who taught their catechism, but they failed miserably.
I will pray that she comes to understand Jesus more fully.

The idea that a Kennedy-Shriver is giong to tell me what my own church teaches is laughable.

Shriver is a Catholic in good standing? Standing somewhere but it sure is not the RCC!!!
For her next dinner discussion with her children:
Our presidential elections are now controlled by the Immoral Majority of from 70-90 million "mothers and fathers" of aborted womb-babies.
More commentary about the influence of evangelicals, Christians, Catholics, Jews and atheists on presidential elections is now simply a waste of time.
And to think BO collected over $640 million dollars, (~$64 million went to the not-so-ethical campaign managers/money collectors at ASK) where all BO had to do is announce his pro-choice and FOCA support. Contributors should request a refund.
