Much thanks to Deepak Chopra for speaking out on this issue. I have felt the same about these things, but Dr. Chopra's voice impacts on more hearts and minds and it is greatly appreciated.

Do you fully disagree with what Jeremiah Wright stated in those speeches? Was it not a sort of Karmic equation that was responsible for the WTC attack---if indeed the US gov. was not responsible in the 1st place? What effect does the NON-publicized US invasions, bombings, killing of innocents around the world have on the karma of the people who blindly support such actions and policies?? Karmic debt??

What racism would that be? The fact the mainstreams finally got off their duffs and started to examine where Obama has been and what his said and done in the past? Hell it's about time. Those at ABC NBC CBS and CNN have been so busy rolling out the Red carpet for Obama that they've forgotten all about doing their real job.

Great post. I for one think idealism is winning. I think that people are starting to realize that idealism does not equate to irrationality or unrealistic dreams, but rather to the better nature of what is possible in the human experience.

Even in the US today the chief killer of Young black males is other young black males. And sorry but what Obama is promising isn't any better.

A lot of Americans seem unable to understand much less forgive the Rev. Wright's anger and yet these same people want black people to "get over" the psychological horrors of centuries of abuse heaped upon them, which by the way is the very reason Rev. Wright is angry as he himself grew up in a time when discrimination and segregation was still law. America, we need to grow up. We all need to forgive each other and move on, if we are to ever go beyond the stains in our past...

Hey! Pioneer King! I have news for you: it's not bigoted to be offended by remarks like those made by Rev. Wright. I think MOST Americans, who love their country, are offended by these remarks, and we now understand exactly where Michelle Obama's attitude about her country come from.

Hate speech is hate speech, whichever side of our many divides it comes from. Try to imagine the reaction if Hillary Clinton had been a member of a church - for 20 YEARS - whose minister preached White supremacy, railed against the mongrelization of white culture by African elements, etc. She would be toast - and rightly so.

Rev. Wright is not the crazy uncle in the closet, or even BO's grandmother. We don't get to CHOOSE our relatives. We do, for darn sure, choose our church, pastor, associates. Twenty years and he had no idea? What does that say about his acuity and judgment?

My guess is it was politically expedient for him to belong to that church and turn a blind eye for his advancement in Chicago politics. Now he's on a national stage, and those old connections are a problem. It's not bigotry to point this out. It's common sense.

The problem is the minister's cry-baby whining that opens wide the door to many racially charged and politically devastating racial expressions that can't be stopped. I can't give an example without it being censored but we know there is no censorship at the watering hole where it will be said and stick with, "who wants one of them to be president" that need not be said.

The big turn-off of the obviously not poor or deprived minister is his use of race as though there were no poor deprived people of other races. What's wrong with them is not their race as much as the tension they create using it as a battering ram.

For those who are focused on the grain of sand will miss the wonderful landscape opening up before us. Obama gave a speech but there are some of us who "have ears and heard beyond the words, and eyes that looked into his soul and saw our own.

I truly feel a sense of lost for those who did not feel the stirring within these moments because, this goes far beyond politics and transcends our different races or faiths.... what happened today, speaks directly to conscious beings who are able to recognize the rare opportunity to turn a page in our human evolution.

It is from our minds that reality is created and if enough who have heard are joined together.... no man can put asunder.

I wonder if the Rev. Wright ever preached to his his flock about the value of education and the dangers of drugs, sex and guns? Maybe a lot more time on these subjects vs. blaming others would help the dear reverend reach the fulness of Christianity. And if does not like the current bible, he should write his own version. Thomas Jefferson did. So did Martin Luther. So did many Christian members of the On Faith panel of religion specialists.

And expanding his own education in the field of genealogy and the historic Jesus would aid his sermons and attitude.

Obama gave a great speech and one of the best speech I ever heard on racial issues. His speech was inspirational, described in details the modern racial issues from an historical perspective, and was aiming at uniting all americans. I would like to hear this type of speech (inspirational, historical, and unifier) more often. I think that Obama would be a great president.

I take it you who are doubting how Barack feels would not have voted for him anyway. His biggest crime...his race.

As far as getting out of Iraq...Samantha Powers said...that Obama has always said he would get out as fast as possible...but, he would leave with more care then we enterd. He could not make a plan in 2008 for something in 2009. How many soldiers are still going to be there? Will the surge be working? will sadir be back in the fight? He said...he could get the people that are on the ground, the Generals and experts and get their expert opinions and make a decision on what was happening then, not a year ago.
