Come on PRINCE, don't you long for the good old days when the news was about sex in the oval office? Wasn't it interesting? And after you heard the story didn't you set back and say, "well, no one got killed, crippled or even bruised?"

Sex is everyone's favorite subject, something to do with people just loving to talk about themselves.

If we can keep sex, sin and spin out of the politics, it will be one less trivial we have to worry about in our continually decaying public discourse.

Henry Hyde's death this week adds a little spice to this commentary. None of the obituaries I've read mentioned that Hyde was one of the 6 or 7 conservative Republican Congressional figures active in the Clinton impeachment prosecution who Larry Flynt outed and embarassed as adulterers. They included Hyde, Bob Barr, Bob Livingstone, Helen Chenowyth and others.

But let's remember that in the USA and perhaps unlike in France, a prime function of government is to entertain the people -- and sex with hypocrisy is so much more entertaining than sex without it. At least, if you're not one of the participants.
