"At your next holiday meal, mention the quote, " Until the koran is "deflawed", no one is safe" as a conversation starter."
You know, Concerned, somehow it just never came up. :)

Reasonable -
I may not be in the mainstream of religious thought in this country, but I'm smack in the middle of political thought...as in anti-bush, anti-Republican and anti-Iraq War.

Paganplace,
Actually Islamic sponsored bloodshed, terror and torture are the talked about at many Thanksgiving dinners considering the 24/7 Sunni and Shiite stupidity and madness. And who supports this madness. The Shiite Islamic terror theocracy of Iran and the Sunni "Wannabees" of Saudi Arabia as they promote their own version of one hallucinating, warmongering, womanizing illiterate Arab's heirs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At your next holiday meal, mention the quote, " Until the koran is "deflawed", no one is safe" as a conversation starter.

Though, I'll actually also ask, *What is your *damage about alligators or affiliated college football teams, anyway?*
Speaking of laughs, every time you say 'Gators vs Muslims' I picture a football game, 'Florida State Vs Taliban'
Seriously, though, alligators may not be the cuddliest creatures on the Lady's green mantle, (but *sooo cute when they're babies*) ...but it's actually quite possible to meet one up close and *not die.* In fact, simply *not paving the Everglades* is a great thing for those with alligator-phobia to do in order to never have to worry about it. :)

On topic: Why are many holiday family gatherings marked by tension and unhappiness???
Money, religious differences and/or political opinions.
About Thanksgiving: I am thankful that I can reiterate the following quotes etc. without fear of Islamic death squads or riots promoted by dark age imams and clerics:
"Until the koran is "deflawed", no one is safe."
"Gators vs. Muslims??? Gators definitely will kill. With Muslims, it depends but with the koran as their operating manual can we trust any of them???"
"Thus begins the extraordinary story of a woman born into a family of desert nomads, circumcised as a child, educated by radical imams in Kenya and Saudi Arabia, taught to believe that if she uncovered her hair, terrible tragedies would ensue. It's a story that, with a few different twists, really could have led to a wretched life and a lonely death, as her grandmother warned. But instead, Hirsi Ali escaped -- and transformed herself into an internationally renowned spokeswoman for the rights of Muslim women."
ref: Washington Post review of Ayaan Hirsi Ali's book, Infidel
"The Islamic theocracy and terror state of warmongering Iran aka the Third Axis of Evil" says it all about the current state of affairs with the warmongerning "religion" established by the hallucinating, womanizing, illiterate Arab named Mohammed and his plagiarizing scribes.

Amazing.
Here is what I am thankful for.
I can laugh off Bgone and his cut and paste posts.
And that Mr Mark is not representative of the mainstream thought in this country.

It's funny how many people of how many different views start their columns this week with the word 'Expectations.' I agree.
I think, everone realizing this, some people want to turn this toward other expectations, (like particular forms of religious piety, or scapegoating others for 'un-Christianizing' the holiday...
Maybe that's what motivates the people trying to make it out like there's some 'War On Christmas' with some enemies out there, that's really responsible for all the stress.
Speaking of peace treaties, can we *not do that this year?* It's not helping.

Thomas Baum:
I trust you're not suggesting we forgive those illegal aliens from Latin America? There'll be no turkey for them. They can just go back to where they came from.
English is the 'official' language.
Religion is also 'official' and, since there are so many different ones of them it's Christian that's 'official' officially. All thanks are to the Christian God. Forgiveness from the Christian God?
Christian religion is based upon a proved hoax, the holy Bible. You don't 'faith' the Bible is a hoax?
OK, http://www.hoax-buster.org/sellyoursoul The forgiveness we seek as we thank God is from the biggest Devil of them all, Lucifer. Not to worry, Lucifer loves sinners. The president said, "we are all sinners." Probably meant the ones in his administration only?
Round and round the preacher boy the hound dog chased the skunk. Round and round the preacher boy till pop went the skunk. That's why the seats in church are called pews. 'Unofficially' that is.
Give thanks to Native Americans for letting us stay in their country and cut the thanks to Devil a bit. Don't expect either one to forgive illegal aliens. There's a big welcome in hell so I've heard. Americans are right at home there, giving thanks to Lucifer for other people's, Native American's property.

TO HUMANITY:
Forgiveness and Thanksgiving
Sometimes these two terms go together more than we may realize. If we don't forgive people, it ultimately makes us bitter in lots of ways that makes being thankful unattainable and that is why we try to fill it with so many other things that don't fill the emptiness.
Have you ever heard the saying, " Give thanks with a grateful heart", if we are so ate up with bitterness towards someone, then just seeing or thinking of that person can as they say, "Make your blood boil". Isn't it something that it is within our God given power to forgive but some people would rather be miserable that to even attempt it, sad isn't it?
When family members get together some of the grudges that are held are sometimes so long held that they actually become part of the person holding them like a cancer, only worse, in that it eats away at you and you are actually the one feeding it.
As far as "A Family Peace Treaty" goes, that is just beating around the bush, saying a bunch of meaningless nice sounding words. This might get you thru the day but it ultimately is only a whitewash.
One of the nice things about forgiveness is that it is not contingent on the other person but on yourself. Forgiving others and, since I know God is real, asking God's forgiveness for what I have done wrong is what Freedom is about, "Free to be the me, that God created me to be".
Sincerely, Thomas Paul Moses Baum.

Cal:
Isn't the real problem the fact that people are inherently bad? Even the president noticed that YOU are a sinner, "we are all sinners" said he.
"Sterotyping" is what religion does to people. Have you heard one of those really good condemnations of sinners at your local church lately? There's just one thing left for you to do, "go your way and sin no more" sinner.
In the upper mid west and a long time ago:
the radio was playing and
Gabriel Heater was saying
peace of earth, good will to men
but then somebody slugged uncle Ken
and the fight was on again
Thanksgiving - to Native Americans
Now eat you turkey and join all the illegal aliens leaving the country beginning with you and your whole family Cal. It's time for the chief to secure the borders but not before we get rid of all the European misfits that came sneaking into OUR country. English like Spanish is a foreign language. America for Americans! No Devil worshipers allowed.
Your God is the Devil Lucifer, http://www.hoax-buster.org/sellyoursoul sinner!

Cal -
I wish you a happy holiday, despite or core differences. That said, on Friday, it's back to the culture wars! :)
BTW - I think we can all agree and be thankful together that at this time NEXT year, the country will have elected a Democratic President and Congress and that our long national nightmare of the bush presidency will pretty much have run its course.
Next stop for the Dems - the WH.
Next stop for bush & cheney - The Hague?
Enjoy the holiday.

"The Norman Rockwell-Ozzie and Harriett-Father Knows Best stereotype of the "normal" American family has been so ingrained in us that when we fall short of that standard it makes us simultaneously angry and sad."
So help me, I will remind Cal of this statement for eternity!
Cal fall short of "traditional family values"?!
It's actually a STEROTYPE?! "Normal" warrants quotes?! Real life ISN'T the Norman Rockwell painting?!
Cal, what would all your crazy neo-con friends think of this?
