Rather than trying to ignore or blur those differences, we must respect and honor the differences, using them to build a better community and nation.

To Welton Gaddy:
My knowledge of the several "major religious traditions" is too limited to justify a stand as to whether the Dalai Lama's statement that all carry the same message. I wish that this statement were true, but historical and current actions in the name of various "major religions" defies the notion that they carry a commonality, namely love, compassion, and forgiveness. History suggests that if you dissent from the religion in power, you will not be loved or forgiven and will recieve no compassion. Rather, you will be persecuted, overtly or covertly. I think the various religious traditions all have at least one thing in common, that is, a very narrow notion of love, etc.
I applaud the efforts of LLEAD (as you described them). Anything that increases understanding, cooperation, and peaceful co-existence between/among ALL religious traditions (and non-religious traditions) seems to me a good thing.
