If the middle east (and the world) is 'living a lie' and the Moses writing were simple compositions then in order to start to resolve issues where they now stand it would seem there would have to be recognition of the lie and that the Arabs really are not intellectually, economically, and socially inferior to the Israelites; the Israelites are not a superior race; and the God of the Universe really didn't choose a people of the earth for his own and didn't give Israel that land.

The world may not be able to get the two sides in the middle east to agree but the peoples of the world can resolve the 'morality' of the standings of peoples before the God/Creator of the universe.

So that could be a start.

There is no more debased and vile a motive than George W. Bush's in Iraq -- somehow run out the clock, surf the boiling ruin, keep the chaos he unleashed going until 2008 until he can stick the next president with the problem and blame him or her for any further catastrophe. Bob Edgar makes perfect sense. There is no solution to the Iraq debacle, George W. Bush has seen to that. So staying and losing more American and Iraqi lives is just throwing good money after bad. IMPEACH CHENEY FIRST lest he bomb Iran and make things even worse. Then bring the full force of the law against Bush and others whose illegal and immoral aggression and torture and lies are a disgrace to civilized peoples. They have sown the wind and are reaping the whirlwind. But we are paying their price. Let them now be brought to full accountability before their criminality makes the damage to our country irremediable.

Absolutely right. Once you murder someone, there is no "moral" fix. You can't bring them back to life. There are problems to which there is no solution, and Iraq is one of them. It's truly amazing, though, to realize that the people yelling loudest about 'morality' are the ones who are the filthiest and most degenerate of all. Personally, I can't wait 'till Christ returns and sends most of his sick "followers" to Hades, where they belong. The zionists are a disease based in racism, and they've created a Hell for which there is no "exit strategy." By the way, I'm not a Muslim, and I DO believe in God and in Kharma. Good start, but I'd remind you that before the Israelis were committing atrocities against the Palestinians, the roles were reversed. Both sides in that conflict have blood on their hands and burn for revenge.
I appreciate your efforts to find a solution, but the trouble is that in high-handedly carving out a Jewish state by more or less throwing darts at a map in complete disregard of the peoples already residing there, the West has created the bulk of the problems we face today. Now the anger, peevish and justified at the same time, the Muslims in the region feel can only be resolved, in their opinion, by destroying Israel.
The Palestinians have been deprived of a state and a home, and the Israelis have thumbed their noses and often flipped the bird at the rest of their region. They can do so because they are enabled by a guilt-ridden West who will never forgive itself for the Holocaust. We created an entire STATE and give it support with no more than the occasional slap on the wrist for wrongdoing while summarily displacing an entire group of other people out of guilt. And we wonder why certain members of the region (read: Iran) deny the Holocaust at the top of their lungs!
I never thought I'd admit this, but as long as Israel's government is being cooperative and Abbas is equally so, provided we can dislodge Hamas (not an easy assumption), a two-state system seems the only viable option. And even that is fraught with difficulty.

Just to be clear -- are you suggesting that we should have continued the sanctions against Iraq that others have stated were resulting in the deaths of 'innocent' thousands of Iraqis? Are you arguing that we should have continued the military no-fly zones [that is, are you saying that limited military involvement solely by the US and UK was moral]?

If we had just slowly starved them to death, would the moral stain somehow be less?

Why is it every leftist out their remembers the 5-10 minutes of a forty-five minute speech that lead up to the authorization to use force - which like it or not was still a de facto declaration of war - but can't remember the other 20 to 25 minutes in which he discuseed Saddam's numerous human rights abuses?

A dreat deal of appreciation goes to Bob Edgar for his honest and fair evaluation of the current situation in Iraq.However, I wish hae had gone a little deeper into the the roots of the issue and the actual cause of all chronic problems in the Middle East.
The unlimited support of the US to Israel from 1948 till now has led to unmatched state of disappointment and despair in the Middle East, which in turn has led to the creation of terrorist groups who are ready to sacrifice their own bodies in a holy war agianst Israel and US interests, not only in the Middle East but all over the world.
What do we expect from a palestinian refugee who has been deprived of all his belongings and thrown out of his country to live in a refugee camp for more than 60 years now.

American Politicians think that they can control the situation in Iraq in the near future by continuing their democratic way of dealing with the enemy there. It's not happening. By now, everybody should understand that in Muslim world, you can control only when you are ruthless, dictator and very cruel just like Saddam, Khomeini, Hamas, Hezbullah, Syria's President, Egypt's President and Saudi's King. They deal with their state enemies and resentment with iron fist, there is no escape, no trial. And thats the way Muslim world w.r.t their religion works and would work.
America is bound to fail in Iraq. The question is would they start pulling out when their body count exceeds 10,000 ?? Remains to be seen!
