Giving Mr. Von Brunn any more than that of being an deranged hater is to give him far more credit than he deserves. He is not a movement, he is not the voice of America, he does not represent the view of veterans. He is a bitter old man who killed an innocent guard on his way to killing more innocents. His "rage" was not justified by any reason, his denials does not change the truth. We should honor the hero, resolve to continue to remember the truth, and not let those who kill deter our efforts for peace. In so doing we honor those who paid the price for intolerance (then and now) and resolve anew, "Never again!"

POST WAS REMOVED

Under Michael Otterson's (Head of Public Affairs, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) column "The Open Door at Dachau", I asked whether is church is still re-baptizing Holocaust victims posthumously as Mormons.

It was taken down.

I was not making it up:

Reactions are multifacited personal thoughts which lose their intricate impact when dissected for discussion.

The initial curiousity included concern for the fallen security guard and his family, and me and my family juxtoposed in the same same world of unexpected madness.

I wondered how a convicted felon obtained a rifle to commit murder.

Legal purchaces of firearms require a federal screening after the putchase but before the weapon crosses the counter into the buyers hand. Did Aunt Sam fall short of doing his/her/its duty.

Weapons purchased illegally and used in a crime become a half-wits proof that there should be no legal weapons, just illegal ones that are recognized when used.

I reacted to be, not surprised, but amazed that the press so quickly helped the public to suck the blood of a fallen security guard so to nurish the Draculaen pity of Jews and blacks "..where a man will not be judged by the color of his skin, but by..." whatever the hell sounds like the biggest sensation of the moment.

Probably hundreds of this-and-that elements surfaced in my intial reaction, but the composite reaction is still evolving with the responses of those who couldn't give a damn that a man was killed but want it known that his assassin is just the tip of the Ikeburg.

One man who died with integrity is by far more of a man than a wimp who cries because his granpa complied to condemn granma and their children to ride in a cattle car.

I cannot answer this question. With each passing day I am more and more biased in favor of the Jews. I grew up listening to David Lee Roth with Van Halen: Geddy Lee with Rush: Gene Simmons with Kiss; watching Spielberg's Close Encounters; Richard Dreyfuss fantastic in Jaws; Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek--and I cannot list all the books by Jews I have read (Berlin, Kafka, Bellow, Maimonides, Spinoza,--it goes on and on). I read that Ashkenazi Jews have the highest I.Q.s in the world with the possible exception of the citizens of Hong Kong and South Korea and Japan. Kill a Jew you kill one of the most probable intellects to solve the pressing questions of our time (cancer, climate change, energy problems, space program, economics). I cannot answer this question. A question I have no right to answer because I cannot be objective.

The only way is the Koranist way. No Sunnism or Shaism, these are later inventions. We need to also ensure the return of the Torah(Old Testament) followers and spokes people for the Jews and not the Phrisaic(Rabbinic) Judaism that abandoned the OT for oral traditions. We also need to ensure the Gospel should speak for Jesus and Christians should abandon the trinity which was a later invention.

Unless these religious communities return to the scriptures and abandon the later innovations introduced either by the Pharisees, Abassids and Ummayids, or the Romans, we will continue in this mess.

This is a punishment from God.

Only the Koran is Real Islam and only the Gospel is real Christianity and only the Torah is real Judaism. Everything else is man made.

The Koran never differentiates between the scriptures but said the people abandoned the scriptures and started obeying religious and political authorities whio introduced hereseys and distortions. Now the Muslims did the same as we can see in Iraq. The Koran says those who turn their religion to sects and various parties will be sown with animosity and war till kingdom come.

Within the past week, two suburban communities in the Atlanta area, Sandy Springs and Dunwoody, have seen swastikas and anti-semitic griffiti spray painted on properties of Jewish residents. How could a holocaust happen? Very easily.

Haven't we had enough of this yet? Right-wing crazies driven mad with hate, getting their hands on a gun and killing? It goes on and on, always the same people, the same politics. They always snap when we have a Democratic president (I guess having a Republican in office makes them feel their craziness is represented). The abortion doctor shooting and clinic bombings were silent while Bush was in office.

Now that the President is not only Democratic but black, the right-wingers are more enraged than ever, screaming about birth certifications and Socialism and seeing monsters. I really hope the FBI is taking these nutbars seriously and I really hope Obama's Secret Service are on their toes.

[edit]Life and career

Sultan was born to a Sunni Muslim family in Baniyas, Syria.[2][3] She resides in Los Angeles, California. She emigrated to the United States in 1989, and is now a naturalized citizen. Sultan has become notable since the September 11, 2001 attacks for her participation in Middle East political debates, with Arabic essays that circulated widely and some television appearances on Al Jazeera and CNN.

On February 21, 2006, she took part in Al Jazeera's weekly 45-minute discussion program The Opposite Direction. She spoke from Los Angeles, arguing with host Faisal al-Qassem and with Ibrahim Al-Khouli about Samuel P. Huntington's Clash of Civilizations theory. A six minute composite video of her remarks was subtitled and widely circulated by MEMRI on blogs and through e-mail; The New York Times estimated that it has been seen at least one million times.[4] In this video she criticised Muslims for treating non-Muslims differently, and for not recognizing the accomplishments of Jewish and other members of non-Muslim society while using their wealth and technology.

Sultan is working on a book to be called A God Who Hates: The Courageous Woman Who Inflamed the Muslim World Speaks Out Against the Evils of Radical Islam. It is to be released on October 13, 2009, a Tuesday. [5]

[edit]Political views

Sultan describes her thesis as witnessing "a battle between modernity and barbarism which Islam will lose". It has brought her telephone threats,[4] but also praise from reformers. Her comments, especially a pointed criticism that "no Jew has blown himself up in a German restaurant", brought her an invitation to Jerusalem by the American Jewish Congress.

Sultan believes that "The trouble with Islam is deeply rooted in its teachings. Islam is not only a religion. Islam [is] also a political ideology that preaches violence and applies its agenda by force."[6] In a discussion with Ahmad bin Muhammad, she said: "It was these teachings that distorted this terrorist and killed his humanity".[7]

Sultan stated that she was shocked into secularism by the 1979 atrocities committed by Islamic extremists of the Muslim Brotherhood against innocent Syrian people, including the machine-gun assassination of her professor, Yusef al Yusef,[8] an ophthalmologist renowned beyond Syria, in her classroom in front of her eyes at the University of Aleppo where she was a medical student. "They shot hundreds of bullets into him, shouting, 'God is great!' " she said. "At that point, I lost my trust in their god and began to question all our teachings. It was the turning point of my life, and it has led me to this present point. I had to leave. I had to look for another god."[9] Adnan Halabi (not his real name), a Syrian expatriate who met and got to know the Sultans when they first came to the United States, claimed that the incident took place off-campus, and at a time when Sultan wasn't even around. [edit]Recognitions

In 2006 Wafa Sultan was named in Time Magazine in a list of 100 influential people in the world "whose power, talent or moral example is transforming the world."[10][11] Time stated that "Sultan's influence flows from her willingness to express openly critical views on Islamic extremism that are widely shared but rarely aired by other Muslims."[10]

[edit]Religious sentiment

In the same Time Magazine interview, Sultan conflictingly described herself as a Muslim who does not adhere to Islam: "I even don't believe in Islam, but I am a Muslim."[10] However, in a recent conference associated with conservative writer and activist David Horowitz, Wafa Sultan expressed her views unequivocally stating:

“ "I have decided to fight Islam; please pay attention to my statement; to fight Islam, not the political Islam, not the militant Islam, not the radical Islam, not the Wahhabi Islam, but Islam itself...Islam has never been misunderstood, Islam is the problem....(Muslims) have to realize that they have only two choices: to change or to be crushed."[12] ”

From Publishers Weekly
With strident confidence, American Congress for Truth founder Gabriel rebukes the American public for being "weak, asleep or careless" in the face of Muslim terrorism. A Christian survivor of the vicious civil war between Lebanese Christians and Muslims in the 1970s, Gabriel leans on her own terrifying experiences to condemn Muslims, without apparent regard for their ethnicity, ideology or historical role. Consistently using the words "Muslim" and "Arab" as if they were interchangeable, she concludes that the U.S. is "facing total destruction" at the hands of people who are uncultured and cruel, and prescribes such solutions as "profile, profile and profile," and banning "hate education" in Islamic institutions. Though her writing is eloquent and her passion tremendous, Gabriel's strict dichotomy between "evil versus goodness" is too extreme to be informative. Readers will be forced to decide whether or not to accept her heart-felt bias. (Oct.)

Review
“Brigitte Gabriel eloquently reminds America what is truly at stake in this struggle against terrorism: our families, our way of life, and our hopes. Ms. Gabriel's personal account of her own experience is riveting, compelling and spellbinding. This is a must read for the entire American public . . . This book contains monumental revelations that will shock and disturb you. But it is also a story of an indomitable spirit--Brigitte's-- that will move you.”
--Steve Emerson, author of American Jihad: The Terrorists Living Amongst Us, Executive Director, the Investigative Project on Terrorism
"A compelling and captivating personal story with a powerful lesson about threats to freedom in our time."--R. James Woolsey, Director of Central Intelligence, 1993-95
“Brigitte Gabriel's story is at once intensely personal and possessing global significance . . . the story of her family and her childhood encapsulates the threat that faces the entire free world today. Brigitte Gabriel's words should be read, and studied carefully, by all the law enforcement and government officials of the West -- as well as by everyone who values freedom.” -- Robert Spencer, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)

“Because They Hate should be read by all to understand radical Islam. Brigitte . . . . This book gives dire warning of what is to come if the democratic and Western world does not take responsible action to protect its people and societies. The United States is the primary target as Islamic Radicalism attempts to spread its worldwide dominance.”--Paul E. Vallely, Maj. General US Army (Ret.), FOX News Channel Military Analyst, and coauthor of Endgame: The Blueprint for Victory in the War on Terror

MHARWICK:

You seem to ignore the government that has over 800 military bases stationed all over the world or the one who wants every other country to be a capitalist society and every citizen of the world to fight socialism and anything remotely connected with communism.

Our lives on this planet are to be decided in Washington, by force if necessary.

It is not the few clandestine "Muslim" groups who wishes to dominate the world and become the police of the world but the official government of the United States who is responsible for the death of at least 4 million people in the last few decades.

Down with imperialism and with the prejudice that feeds your Islamophobia.

He is not alone in this country. There are literally thousands who would kill all Åmericans and some just blacks and Jews if they could. On 9/11 they brought hatred i and they will continue to try all over the world. They want all infidels dead and a Caliphate over the world, but we have the same people right here in America now.
Von Brunn, 88, a self-described artist, advertising man and author living in Annapolis, Md., has a history of racism, anti-Semitism and anti-government aggression.

A Web site maintained by Von Brunn says that in 1981 he tried to carry out a "citizens arrest" on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, a body he accused of treason.

When he was arrested outside the room where the board was meeting, he was carrying a sawed-off shotgun, a revolver and a knife. Police said he was upset about high interest rates and economic turmoil in the United States.

He was convicted two years later of attempted kidnapping and second-degree burglary, among other charges, and sentenced to prison, where he served 6 1/2 years.

On his Web site he describes the outcome of his case as, "convicted by a Negro jury, Jew/Negro attorneys, and sentenced to prison for eleven years by a Jew judge. A Jew/Negro/White Court of Appeals denied his appeal."

The Web site attributed to Von Brunn also says he wrote a book called "Kill the Best Gentiles," about how to "protect your white family.

The patriot movement monster has many ugly heads and has been fed for years by conservative talk radio. It's become a widespread disease of intolerance, hatred and anarchy. I do think we are seeing the ripple effects of the shock that comes to those who are possessed with this scourge. This spring we were in DC and we happened to walk past the entrance to the museum. It was the first I have heard of it. It made me wonder why there needed to be yet another gruesome display of human cruelty prominently situated in our nations capital. This attack does not surprise me since this gross obsessiveness with a past genocidal tragedy continues to be divisive by constantly reopening old wounds and refusing to move forward. It simply breeds yet more ire from the extremists at the other end of the spectrum.

I see right-wing bumper stickers and t-shirts regularly that say things like:

Kill them all; let God sort them out
Spay a liberal
Fight Terrorism; Shoot a Democrat

I never see left-wing slogans promoting violent acts against innocent civilians.

Don't kid yourself. The wack jobs who manage to keep themselves under control in the good times are now under lots of stress.....idealogically and financially.

This is a "perfect storm" time for them to point and cry that these are the times "that have been predicted"....and then completely wig out.

If you've ever worked with the seriously mentally ill who live with serious delusions...as I have...it's and easy thing to see this wave coming.

Yes, there are crazies out there - always have been, always will be.

The problem is that the Right-wing media is pushing their buttons, egging them on to do things like this. And when one of them does go nuts and go on a shooting spree, the right-wing media all claims that they weren't responsible. But given that they spew all sorts of hatred on a daily basis, it seems like they have a lot of blood on their hands..

Does anyone remember how the right went ballistic over the report from the Dep't of Homeland Security warning of domestic rightwing terrorists? It's beginning to look prophetic now in light of this and Dr. Tiller's murder. Guess Janet Napolitano and her staff knew what they were talking about.

Look.

The FBI knows all of these people. Some one told me that it is very convenient to let loose a loony like this to go and do his act of violence in a Synagoge, for example, and then justify more restrictions on civil liberties 'for your own good'.

I know it sounds like conspiracy theory but it is not completely outrageous.

Plus, bet you anything that this will fuel the request for laws prohibiting holocaust denying.

Apart from that, it is intolerable. Violence only sparks more violence.

Is it an act of rage? Of course it is. The media and our government fuels these kind of anger by continuously widening the economical gap between the rich and the losing middle class. And it is true that much of the financial power is in hands of people of Jewish descent. They get a lot of breaks that the rest of society doesn't get.
